Just to throw it out there, the whole "didn't request a trade" thing means nothing.
That is EXACTLY what an agent is supposed to say, after he requested a trade. If it gets public that he requested a trade, then it just kills the King's negotiation power to make a deal happen. Essentially, the conversation would go like this:
Fegan: As you know, my client is not happy, and he would like to request that he be traded. He would prefer to be traded to one of these teams, where we think he will be a good fit.
Petrie: We want to trade him too, but he is too valuable to not get a major return on, so Demarcus needs to help us out here. He needs to keep up the good play, be a good citizen, and most importantly, keep his mouth shut about wanting out. We will do our best to find a deal that gets him where he wants to go if he can play his part.
Fegan: Absolutely.
Then Fegan leaves the meeting, tells Amick that they are committed to making it work with Cousins staying in Sacramento, and Petrie gets back on the phone with Danny.
...of course, if the team is really being sold, then I am sure any deal is on hold, so the new owner can weigh in on what to do with their best asset.
