Lakers just announced Dwight Howard (torn labrum) and Pau Gasol (concussion) are out indefinitely. Season getting no simpler in Lakerland

Oh you Lakers you. You were gonna lose against HOU, OKC, and SAS with them anyways, didn't need any more help losing.  ;D

How big is that Howard injury? I think this was the final dagger in that they aren't making the playoffs

Sucks for a couple of my fantasy teams.  Otherwise, it couldn't happen to a more deserving team.

Wow - who will they start in the meantime?  Jordan Hill and...I guess Jamison if you're going small, who will be eaten alive by just about any starting 4 in the league?

My pipe dream that the Lakers would miss the playoffs altogether is starting to seem more plausible.

Currently 15-18.

Coming soon: @Houston, @ San Antonio, OKC. Then they play Cleveland (beat LA already), Milwaukee, and Miami.

At best without their twin towers this team is looking at 1-5 and and potentially 16-23 with basically half their season done.

This was retweeted by Marc Spears....apparently Jordan Hill is hurt too. Just icing on the cake since they are going to get annihilated in the paint!

They seriously could be entering the position to tank this season depending on how bad Howard's shoulder is.

If they were to win the lottery I'd puke.

I actually don't know if I want LA to miss the playoffs. About the time they do, they will be gifted the #1 pick with a .00004% chance of getting it. Stern's last "decision" as Commissioner!

No Lakers in the playoffs? I am almost foaming but who knows. Maybe they have trade ideas of their own.

Sounds like a steady diet of Sacre for them and schadenfreude for us, then.

Did Howard year his labrum last night?  Watching the game I didn't notice anything.

Looks like Nash and Kobe are going to have to take over.  Not sure how that's going to pan out.

Mitch Kupchak can still pull off another highway robbery  before/at the trade deadline and turn this around.

My pipe dream is that the Lakers narrowly miss the playoffs and land the 13th overall pick.

I was walking along the road with two friends
the sun was setting
suddenly the sky turned blood red
I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence
there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city
my friends walked on and I stood there trembling with anxiety
and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.
