Just got this from RealGM:

What next? KMart, Birdman, trades?

Joseph really surprised me. Varnado, not at all.

Hopefully birdman, unless they plan on making a trade taking more players back than they send away.

Shame about Joseph, I thought he could be a beneficial player down the line.  But it looks like we're gearing up for some last-minute additions.

Possible FA signing? Birdman? KMart?

Possible trade to come?

Any other reason to waive Joseph?

wow...sorry about KJ, thought he had potiental , but he was 24 years old too I think.

Sounds like danny wants to have as much flexibiity as possible to add a better big than Collins.

KG really needs a serious or decent replacement when he sits.  Someone who can hold the line , and protect the paint while he is resting and the lead not be wiped out..

Samardo Samuels was released by Cleveland this weekend. Not much upside to him, but I think he'd bring rebounding, grit, and hustle. A slight upgrade from Varnado, perhaps.

Surprised about Joseph. Was his release tied to his contract status?

Not really surprising.  This is part of the wave of players who will be waived before their contracts become guaranteed.  Chris Douglas-Roberts and Samardo Samuels seems like the most useful players waived under similar circumstances.

I'd like them to use one of those open roster spots to audition D-League bigs on ten-day contracts, which they can start signing players to tomorrow.  They can even bring back Varnado that way.  If Doc really wants a backup point guard, a defense-minded guy like Ben Uzoh is available in the D-League as well.

Do either of these moves impact our cap space?  I mean I know both had very small salaries.  I just don't know how it impacts our cap.

If Joseph is waived, Danny probably has a SF back-up to add in mind.

They had to be waived by 5pm to prevent their contracts from being guaranteed.  After that, the team would take a cap hit if it waived either player to make room to sign a free agent.

EDIT: 5pm tomorrow

I wonder if a move is coming for a big....I still think that K-Mart would be an adequate backup to KG

Kmart isn't the rim protector we need. No way should he be playing ahead of Sully or Bass either. Birdman makes more sense to me.
