Lebron James
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Blake Griffin
Dwight Howard
Rajon Rondo
Derrick Rose
Kevin Love
Carmelo Anthony
Anthony Davis
Kyrie Irving
Russell Westbrook

I'm wondering what other people's lists would look like.  What are my blatant omissions and crazy inclusions?

Blake and Love are a little high for my liking.

I think in two or three years Irving and Davis are going to jump two or three spots each on that list.

Rose should be ahead of Rondo.

Other than that, great list.

1. Durant
2. James
3. Dwight
4. Irving
5. Rose
6. Wade
7. Rondo
8. Carmelo
9. Harden
10. Love
11. Griffin
12. Paul George

Don't see any blatant omissions or crazy inclusions on your list.  There are tons of different ways to go depending on the pieces around them and how soon you want to win a title (Chris Paul or even Kobe Bryant would be a much better choice in some instances than Love, Griffin, or George).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I like the list, but I'm omitting 3 names.

Im not putting Love as a guy you build around.

I understand he's a superstar, but he has no heart. He's already complaining about not winning and leaving, while on his first year of extension, and while the wolves have an excellent piece in Rubio and no bad contracts.

I'd also take out Paul George, I think he hasn't proven that he's a franchise player yet. He's getting there though, but not right now.

I'd take out Blake as well. I think as of this moment he's still one dimensional. He's improving, but I'm not putting him as my centerpiece. He needs to work on his FT and jump shots.

All this names, outside of the things I see on them, have one thing in common for me which is why I'm not building around them. I haven't seen them take over games on a consistent basis. As a centerpiece, you should be able to take over games. They are getting close, but the way I see right now, If I get to choose them as my centerpiece, I'll pass. (add DMC here too.)

With that in mind, I'll replace them with 3 names.

Russel Westbrook
- this kid is a franchise player. He'll drop 30-40 points any night and play very solid defense and when he's on, good luck stopping him.

Anthony Davis
- while he may not be a dominating scorer, he'll dominate on the other things with especially rebounding, defense and overall impact. The little things he does plus the 18-20 points, 10 rebounds, 2-3 blocks a game he'll drop every night, scoring on different ends of the floor, solid interior and pick and roll and switch defense, consistently, definitely franchise player.

Chris Paul
- I can't believe he's not on this list. It's automatic.

I agree with the other 4 but disagree on Aldridge. I said it before, to be someone to build around means you're a franchise player, and franchise players take over games. Aldridge seems to not have that extra gear to just take over.

I'd put CP3 over him.

In a couple years, I wouldn't be surprised if DeMarcus Cousins made the list.  If he could mature, he'd be one of the most dominant players in the league.

How funny is it that the guy most people have in their top 3-5 (Dwight Howard) is on a losing team even though he plays for the Lakers and with a bunch of other old but talented players.

Rondo is about equivalent, no?

It's blasphemy that Duncan nor Garnett haven't been mentioned. Even at their advanced age, they're the perfect players to build around.

My list

Lebron James
Kevin Durant
Derrick Rose
Chris Paul
James Harden
David Lee

Sorry but Dwight Howard is not a guy i would want to build my team around. The guy is not a leader. Lakers are horrid so far with the type of talent they have on the team. I rather have Tyson Chandler. James Harden and David Lee have passed the test so far that they can carry/lead a team. They are the mvp for their teams so far

Though i love to put Rondo on the list, there isn't enough proof that you can build a team around him alone.

no offense, but not sure how you have Irving on the list. Cleveland is one of the worse teams in the league. A guy you can build around imo is a guy that carries the team through stats/leadership and helps them be contenders.

Its hard also if you can build on Griffin or Melo alone bc previous to this year, they only did subpar jobs in leading their teams to get somewhere. Love the same. Minny is just subpar

Though i love to put Rondo on the list, there isn't enough proof that you can build a team around him alone. Pre big three era the celts weren't good and the big test to see what rondo will be made out of will be when we lose either kg or pierce in a year or so. Right now no

The last three on this list are questionable.  Chandler is definitely not a corner stone.  Lee is not really either.  Harden might be soon.
