Rondo's defense is way overrated. He is too much of a stat hound for my taste. Would say that in spite of the improved offensive output he is a top 2-4 point guard. Would put Paul first; but Rondo is not a clear lock for 2nd. Westbrook and Curry would need to considered in the discussion as well.

rondo and cp3 are the 2 shortest starting point guards and they are the 2 best.

One thing to consider is that he is a major draw with fans.

His All-Star votes show that. Also, the NBA store has his jersey at #6 right now. At any Celtics road game his will be the jersey you see on fans.

This could be important in terms of trade value. There might be a lot of small-market teams who would love to have him just to fill the stands and create some excitement.
