Celtics recall Fab Melo from the D-League. Despite a recent streak of dominance in the D-League, it would be a major surprise if Melo earned any meaningful playing time while with the Celtics.Source: Celtics on Twitter
I thought they were only going to recall Fab Melo if he was going to receive playing time here. Unless it's just a call up for a few days both to remind him that he is in their plans + as a sort of reward for playing well recently ... I would expect Fab Melo to get some playing time coming off the bench.

Rivers also explained a bit of NBA procedural logistics that explained why Fab Melo (strained quadriceps) was recalled by the Celtics for a non-game day before being sent back out today to the Maine Red Claws of the D-League.“He was injured so the new [CBA] rules are that if you bring him back [from D-League for medical treatment], you have to activate him,” Rivers said. “We had to activate him because he was with us.”

That's sort of a dumb way to run things.Teams shouldn't have to recall guy when they have injuries and want to treat them.

Doesn't calling a player up also mean another player has to be de-activated?
