D.Arthur's pick and roll defense on Rondo was terrific.

Rondo can't be the centerpiece of a team, he just can't. The PG can't be. Name me the last time a team won a title because of their dominant PG play?  Yeah, Rondo was great in 08, but that was because he was the role player PG in that offense and played MUCH better defense.

Statistically our three biggest "positive" players are KG (on defense), Pierce (on offense) and Terry (on both).

Rondo is a pure PG and a playmaker, he is capable of making the guys around him better but he still needs talent around him to be at his best.

He's not the type of player that can dominate games and put the team on his back every night.  He can do it occasioanlly, but not all the time.  He's just not offensively talented enough.

This is why I'm not as hessitant to trade Rondo as I once was.  I love Rondo because he plays with hurt and he plays with a chip on his shoulder, but the second Pierce and KG are gone this team goes straight to lottery if Rondo is the guy we depend on to win us games.

Bradley can possibly replace KG as the teams defensive leader (he's that good) but we need an offensive leader to take over for Pierce and that to me is where Cousins comes in.

I feel DMC has the potential to be an elite offensive player in a couple of years once he develops his skill set, and I dont think any of the other guys we are talking about (Jefferson, Gortat, Milsap, Okafor, Nene) have the potential to be a go-to guy on offense.

On another note - who wanted to trade Terry again?

Our best shot was a Rondo three-pointer with 16 seconds on the clock?!

I'd definitely look at trading Rondo right now if it could net us a good big and a decent team running PG. iI dont know what team presents us that opportunity, but I'd be calling around.

Rondo can't be the centerpiece of a team, he just can't. The PG can't be. Name me the last time a team won a title because of their dominant PG play?  Yeah, Rondo was great in 08, but that was because he was the role player PG in that offense and played MUCH better defense.
go back to the 80's with the Piston and Isaiah Thomas and the Lakers with Magic.  it's not impossible but Rondo isn't Isaiah or Magic.

Isaiah Thomas is THE exception imo. Magic was 6'9. He is a point guard in play but wasn't prototypical point guard physically.
absolutely correct which is what made him so dominant in that position.  doesn't negate the fact he was the dominant PG of his time (and considered the starting PG on most all-time all-NBA teams)
