So I stumbled upon this:

And aside from Jalen Rose fumbling the handoff from Bill Simmons regarding playing with guys who are scared of free throws, the whole piece was about everything I want in basketball commentary. Bill Simmons with historical context, Magic feeding off that and making real points based on his own playing history, and Jalen Rose keeping the thing moving.

Is it always like this?

I've seen this before... I'd watch it every time if it was like this. I usually miss it though.

No it's not always like this, and you're not missing much. I don't like Magic as an analyst. Bill Simmons is a die hard Celtics fan but since he's on national TV you can tell he wants to be unbiased most of the time and that takes away from his personality. And Jalen Rose just plain sucks.

I don't have much use for Jalen Rose personally, but I like Magic Johnson and Bill Simmons.  I think those two are worth the listen more often than not.
