The date the mayans predicted has already come and gone and nothing happened.  The Mayans didnt have leap years.
Too bad the Mayans never predicted that and 2012 isn't even close to the end of a long year.

And it wasn't their solar calendar so leap years are irrelevant.

I have no idea if this is accurate, but I still found it interesting and it certainly seems plausible.

According to the article the last time the Mayan Calendar flipped (or predicted the end of the world apparently) was September 18, 1618 (clearly the world did not end then).

see the article I posted.  leap years have nothing to do with the calendar ending.  It is total days, which no matter how you work it out equates to December 21, 2012.  It has nothing to do with years, leap years, or anything of the sort.

Weren't the Mayans the same people who thought that human sacrifice was a good idea?

Yes, they were.

Then why do we make such a huge deal about their ridiculous prediction of the world ending on a certain date? They certainly weren't the smartest or most educated or most informed people on Earth if they couldn't survive and thought killing each other was a good idea to appease their Gods.

Hey all. Posting this from the future, aka Australia. We're closing on halfway through the dreaded Apocalypse here, 10:30am.

Not much fire, or brimstone. It's nice 'n warm though. Might have to hop into the pool later.

Totaled my car yesterday. Would appreciate apocalypse.

Wow, wait, what? You still in one piece? How'd it happen?
