I'm not sure I feel bad for any player more than I do for Bowie.  Think about it, he'll never be known as the star big man at UK, or the oft-injured journeyman of the NBA, ...

He'll always be known as the guy who was selected before MJ.  Really sad.

Greatly anticipating the documentary.  It's one of the few things ESPN does well.

Color me naive, but what is the deal with Len Bias? Why the comparison with liar and fraud as above?

Wow. This takes some, but not much, heat off the Blazers for taking him over Jordan. Taking surgically repaired tibias over a sure-fire superstar is still incredibly baffling.

On a side note, Bowie actually could have been a great center in the league but injuries killed him.

In different setting (like say, Kevin McHale), playing through pain even when you shouldn't is seen as heroic. The guy wanted to help his family and play professionally. Sucks he never really got back to great, but it's not some condemnable sin.
