Please create a metric that quantifies Tony Allen's craziness.

Big loss for ESPN, which relied heavily on Hollinger to drive it's "Insider" NBA coverage.  Chris Wallace has put together a gsolid team despite a shaky ownership situation and very poor drafting by Wallace.  Hollinger can help shore up the drafting there, and contribute high level analytics to help the coaching staff, similarly to what Dallas did in their title run.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. NBA front offices are adding agents, like in Phoenix, print repourters, like Kahn in Minny, and statheads (everywhere).  Hollinger is the highest profile stathead, and Memphis adding him has to be a coup in the NBA-metric world.

Unbelievable.  Really didn't expect that.

I guess the guy knows his stats.

But what's next?  T-Wolves fire Kahn and hire Bill Simmons?

My thoughts exactly. As TripleOT says, Hollinger drove the Insider "content" for ESPN, so they'll need to somehow find something else besides Marc Stein and Ric Bucher cranking up the Trade Machine scenarios to justify subscriber fees.

This is especially interesting because Hollinger's trademark stat favors shooting and general offensive production over defense and intangibles.  The Grizzlies, on the other hand, are currently built to favor the latter over the former.

Hollinger is also a big proponent of the "three or more shooters at all times" philosophy in putting together lineups.  Wonder how that might affect the way the Grizz do things.

I guess we'll get to see how Hollinger's Draft Rater performs when it's used to actually draft players.

He knows PER doesn't factor in defense as heavily as offense, but he still knows a good defender when he sees one.

I'm really going to miss his columns and chats.  He was my favorite.

While the Celtics countered by hiring David Stern to a 10 year contract as chief security and NBA liaison officer
