There are a bunch of long time veteran guys around the league that have hung around in seriously reduced roles compared to their prime.  It's interesting to see which guys can do that job willingly and well at this stage of their careers.  It seems to me there are more of these types of guys than ever.  The money would sure make you want to play a few more years if you can still play.

The Dallas game alone has Carter, Brand and Marion - all former All Stars and 20+ point scorers...Stackhouse, Grant Hill maybe...who else?
Yup

Yeh, I thought about Sheed but he left for a couple of years.  He never fully felt the decline.

I want Jamison gone. He's finished. Kick him out already.

It's Mike Bibby all over again. End it. Please!

A thread like this makes you appreciate KG and Duncan even more.

Two 35-36 year-olds that are still hanging around - both of whom their teams cannot sniff a championship without.

Besides perhaps Kareem (and Hakeem?), what other 36 y.o's have performed THIS well?

Oh yeh, Jamison indeed.

I always wondered why guys like Ewing and Dominique would go ride the pine for an oddball team at the end of their careers. It just seems demeaning.  Walk away while you still have it. The guys we listed have are at least playing more minutes than Nique or Ewing did at the very end.

Yup.

It'll be interesting to see if Ray Allen can avoid this path.

Heck, even Shaq fell into this trap at the end.

I posted in wrong thread (I was aiming for the game thread,). Did I say how much I hate Antawn Jamison? Oh, I did.

Andre Miller is another name who continues to play at a very impressive level. Has accepted a bench role in Denver too after being unhappy about doing so a few years earlier in Portland.

Almost forgot about B-B-B-Billups!

Clips not advancing in the playoffs without him - at 36 y.o.

Completely forgot about Ray. I guess this is a good thing.

What's interesting is that I bet you could place the players from this thread, plus perhaps Kobe, and come close (if not win) a championship.

Brian Cardinal also is still out there.

I also read that Finley is aiming for a comeback of sorts

Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

First guy that comes to mind is Mike Bibby--heard he just worked out with the Grizzlies.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Kidd in NY

If he stays healthy he is going to be very valuable come playoffs.

I'd argue Kobe belongs in this discussion as well.

Maybe even Metta...?
