Was just watching Felger and Mazz Show. They said Schilling just tweeted out something about Ellsbury for Lee trade and it's the Phillies call . Lee has 3 years 75 mil left on his contract . This would be great IMO instead of losing Ellsbury for nothing next year .

Get Cliff Lee and either Swisher or Hamilton(long shot) and thats a pretty solid rotation and outfield .

I don't think its real, I saw the twitter stuff just looks like a Fan's question to Mazz regarding whether or not he would do that deal

with the salaries the Sox unloaded, taking on Lee's deal is a lot more feasible.  that and moving Ellsbury makes it less painful money-wise.   If I'm Philly, I'd want more talent coming back than Ellsbury though

I don't see how the Phillies trade Lee for what could be a rental player.

No brainer.  Ellsbury is gone after this year and Lee's contract fits within the 3 year window the Sox are going for

No way the Phillies make that trade. Nothing to it. Just a wishlist.

Does the Red Sox need a closer?

I'll try to convince my Giants to trade Gregor Blanco and Brian Wilson for Jacoby...  ;D (thank you for Marco Scutaro BTW)

Back to topic, Phillies wont do that deal, just won't. They'll probably ask for a bit more for that to happen.

At this point I think every ace in the league will be mentioned as a target of the Red Sox.

That deal is very interesting.  Lee's year was much better than it looked, as he had little run support (6-9 record, with a 3.16 ERA).  Still, I'd be a little wary at 34 coming back to the AL.  However, I believe he only has 2 years left, so it fits in with the Sox's payroll plans.

Unfortunately, I don't think the market for Ellsbury is going to be large.  It's a good idea to trade him, but given his health woes that lead to his subpar season and the fact that he becomes a FA next season, I don't see many teams giving up more than a mid-rotation pitcher for him.

And there's no point in doing that.  We have enough of those already.

So we might as well hold onto him.  He has more value helping us make a run this year or being dealt at the deadline after he establishes his health.

Sox should trade Ellsbury as soon as they can, and target pitching.  #3 starter or better who will be under team control for at least 2 years but no more than 4.
