If Dampier is our only option I would prefer him over Collins. Damp played some good minutes against us (even if it was little time) in the playoffs. If he could give us 5 to 10 a game for the vet min I could dig it until we make a trade.

Work him out, fine.  But that would be very disappointing if they sign him.

I am hoping the C's can hold it together with what they have until at least 10 day contracts are allowed in January, and guys start being bought out.

No point in Dampier. Already have Jason Collins. Too similar.

Need a different type of big man (like C.Andersen or Kenyon Martin).

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Good Lord, no.

I'd rather have Kyrylo Fesenko.

That's kind of my train of thought exactly..I'm not sure what he provides that Collins doesn't. Plus, there are guys bought out every year

I think its also important to note that the rumor is just saying they are considering working him out.  That is a long way from actually signing him.  I actually wouldnt be surprised if these workouts happen all the time under the radar.  This one just happened to leak.

I wanted him 3 or 4 years ago.  Not now.

yikes. if they're serious about winning they need someone who's actually halfway decent - not just a dredged up carcass.

so obvious they need a trade - lots of guards, "smalls" no bigs - none of the scrap heap guys is gonna make much of a difference overall i think.

Almost no chance he's a better player than Collins at this point.  Maybe a better rebounder, but at the expense of being much worse at getting down the court and being a larger injury risk.

I'd honestly rather have Troy Murphy (although KMart and Birdman are head and shoulders above all 3).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Does anyone have any real news on Chris Andersen?  He is hardly mentioned.  I know he had the legal issues but if that's aside or out of the way enough he is far more attractive then Dampier or K Mart.

My Birdman love is known though.

Last I heard he still has no charges and was never arrested, but that was months ago.  I doubt anything will ever come from the investigation, it sounded like a pretty classic case of extortion.  He denied the advances of a girl with a fake ID who sent him pictures and told him she was 21, so she threatened him if he didn't give her thousands of dollars as consolation.
