Pelicans . . . sounds like an NHL team.

Which is to say, it's a really stupid name.

its their state bird, so makes more sense than hornets. i woulda liked "brass" best though. i like when teams are named after something in their area. and if you really think about a lot of current team nicknames, they are far more absurd, we're just used to them.

I would be great for Charlotte to have the Hornets back.

On the other hand, Pelicans? Really!?

New Orleans Cajuns should be their monicker.

Yeah, I'm not a fan, either.  It's probably no worse than a lot of the names out there, though.  "Lakers"?

The locals seem to like it. Why not? I just want to see the Charlotte Hornets again.

3 way trade: send the Jazz back to New Orleans, the Hornets back to Charlotte, and give Utah the Bobcats name (or let them call themselves whatever the heck they want)

I think Utah says no, they need at least a future first round pick back in that deal
