Move New Orleans to Seattle and name them the Supersonics. Let Charlotte have the name Bobcats. Allow Utah to pick a new name. Rebrand the Lakers the LA Posers.

It's what most of us in Charlotte want. The city's people voted for the Hornets name originally. We actually had a say in it the first time.

The New Orleans Hornets are expected to change their name to the New Orleans Pelicans as soon as the 2013-14 season, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Louisiana's nickname is "The Pelican State," which helps to explain the decision. The name change could affect the Bobcats, as well, as Michael Jordan has said he would consider going back to the Charlotte Hornets if the name became available.

The NBA missed a golden opportunity here. They should have renamed the Utah Jazz to the Honey Badgers or something and then given the name of the Jazz to New Orleans, and then the name of the Hornets back to Charlotte.
The Pelicans!?!?

Again, if this all goes down, I hope that people remember that Alonzo, LJ, Muggsy, etc were part of the Pelicans franchise, not the new Charlotte team. Even though their legacy is in the past, the way a team looks now is based off of how the personnel is built through the years. Charlotte will always have to look at guys like Keith Bogans and Brevin Knight as their history...sorry guys - at least you had the ROY in Okafor.

I'm torn. I feel uncomfortable when the Thunder break Sonics records, so I don't know how I'd feel about players like LJ potentially getting lapped by some future Pelican.
