Well TP back at you and I guess we agree to..not agree. Gasol, for all his underwhelming play is a legitimate 'missing piece' to a lot of contenders in the league, and the Lakers aren't in the business of enabling anyone without getting their fair cut.
How long can they put up with bad play (and losing)? If they start winning than they may keep him but if not what good is it for them to keep him and what kind of market does that give Gasol if they explore trading him. The Makers better start winning or else they'll be in a lose lose situation

Great trade for Utah. They get Evans, Jimmer for redemption, a rotation-caliber player in Thompson, and a pick.
Acceptable trade for the Celtics. Demarre Carroll isn't an offensive force, but he can play some defense. He's going to play minor minutes, anyway. And Jefferson, as bad as he is as a defender, his post play is quite strong and he can rebound.
"Let's give it a shot" trade for the Lakers. Shaking the roster up and playing Green for the PF spot, eh? In an up-tempo system, he can flourish. Garcia isn't a real upgrade over Meeks, so, a bit irrelevant. Lee can provide some defense for them, though. Still, it's too much of a change to call it strong initially.
Terrible trade for Kings. They are nowhere near winning days and they get a 32 year old PF/C locked in with a huge contract. And they give up Evans and Jimmer for that move. He looks expandable for the time being, but things can change quickly, if the Kings coach becomes expandable, too.

That's more or less my assessment of it too. No way the Kings go for it. Unless, of course, you can bundle the Maloofs in there with Tyreke.

I think a deal would make more sense if Houston was involved instead of the Kings.

I appreciate your interest - the Kings have one of the 4 lowest payrolls in the league, and would only be taking on a total of $4M in extra salary taking on Gasol and Watson (bringing them to 6th in the league in payroll - and still under the cap). ...and don't forget - they'd be getting some draft picks as well with the trade as proposed.

Really? No way? First off, Jimmer doesn't play. His minutes have been basically halved this season. He's not a big loss for that team. Second, Jason Thompson is not even close to Pau Gasol. The Kings cannot score this year, they're one of the worst teams in the NBA - the worst team in the Western Conference. Whatever they are doing with Tyreke Evans is not working. What are they going to do? Give a max contract to Tyreke and Cousins? That's like giving a max contract to Corey Maggette and Roy Hibbert. Nice players - but they're not giving you a championship. The Kings are the WORST team in the league in assists per game. The WORST. ...they desperately need someone to pass the ball on that team. They are bottom ten in points per game. ...Sacramento needs to change things. Gasol is a professional. Earl Watson is a professional. The Kings could use some professionalism. Earl Watson is FOURTH in the league in Assists per 48 this season.

We might as well put Tyrion in at center.

What we should do is remove the Kings from this and add the Rockets instead. They want Pau really badly, right?

What would the Rockets have available to offer Utah? Hard to see that from Utah's perspective. Harden? No way. Houston scored with him. Lin isn't that good (and there are a lot of Asians in Houston whose butts he puts in stadium seats); and Asik is decent - but Utah needs a creative wing - not another interior rebounder/defender.

I've seen an interview with Morey saying that Gasol no longer fits with the direction of the team.
