Not athletic enough to adapt to the change in direction.

Or he needs new shoes with better traction.

I think he is injured,  not showing a lot of lateral quickness.

There isn't even a change in direction. Nelson just takes a side step and shoots the ball.
This isn't a cross-over or anything resembling that.
He just slips here.

The position against JJ was a cross-over. And in that one, he took a risk to steal the ball and ended up getting beaten.

In my opinion, both positions have got nothing to do with age.

Joe Johnson didnt cross Pierce up, he mishandled the ball.  If you watch, the only way Johnson does that intentionally is if he is a wizard.

Yeah he was looking up and almost lost his dribble. Didn't Pierce just get on his knee to grab it? Its not like he fell over

Yeah I saw espn call him out for an ankle break but I thought he just dove to the floor or the loose ball.

bingo.  its not a bad thing, its a real thing. he is still playing good D.  but he will have his "senior moments". do people still expect him to move the way he did when he was 25 or something?

Well it's not like people are unjustified in thinking that.  He's looked old for 4 seasons now, but never on that end of the court.  He was not nearly as good of a defender at 25 than at 34.
