BOS sends: Jeff Green, Fab Melo, 2013 First Rounder
BOS receives: Derrick Williams

MIN sends: Derrick Williams, JJ Baea
MIN receives: Jeff Green, Fab Melo

CLE receives: JJ Barea, 2013 First Rounder

Derrick Williams has been getting garbage minutes this season, and seems to not fit in their system. But, without a third team, Boston couldn't get it done by shipping out Green. Minnesota gets the player they want Williams to be in Green, and a raw center in Fab Melo, and also gets rid of a useless player (Once Rubio returns). Cleveland gets a pick and a backup PG, and facilitates the trade (They're far under the cap)

Unless I'm perhaps undervaluing Williams? To me it seems like hes a good target. Young, unproven, talented player who isn't getting minutes with his team. MIN could value him highly though, he was the 2nd overall pick 2 years ago.

Except Williams is 5 years younger and has way more upside. He has the potential we all want JG to have.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Would've done it before Sullinger. Now, it's lateral talent wise (but likely not going forward), and a step back in fit.

Lee, Green, Melo for Williams, Stiesma (still can't spell his name), signing Pietrus afterwards, that I can get behind.

Except Derrick Williams can't defend the 3. That's a big deal for us right now.

Jeff Green has WAY WAY more potential than Derrick Williams and is a lot better right now regardless.

I think Green is likely better now, but I disagree strongly about him having better potential.

either way i cant see williams staying in Min. Dont see how this works green goes into a system that doesnt need him...... and we get a player that would be behind bass and sully on a rotation

Nope, green is a better perimeter defender, and has made the change from college to nba, unlike Williams
And we're also giving up a decent defensive prospect, and a draft pick for an unproven player

No.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Good idea. The problem is we need someone to defend Lebron in the playoffs- and Melo and Joe Johnson/Gerald Wallace and the the elite SF's and tall SG's.

That's the only problem I have.
I mean Green's been inconsistent on offense but his 1v1 defense has been pretty decent and he doesn't get credit for it.

Not a bad trade idea.
I'd also argue that Williams has more potential than Green, much more at this point in time.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Interesting point. All the crap Green gets is for his poor offensive production. Not many people have noticed his decent 1 on 1 defense.
