Not impressed. Way too small of a sample size. O'Neal had plenty opportunities here in Boston to prove himself (especially after the Perk trade) and did nothing.
He was always capable of this with us. He had some good games here, and played great defense pretty consistently. He was just always playing with an injury. In fact he's two years removed from averaging those numbers over an entire season, so I don't know what you're talking about with this year's small sample size.
And I have no clue what you're talking about with the "plenty of opportunities here in Boston." How does that work when he was never healthy?
After Perk got traded in February '11 and Jermaine came back that season, just before the playoffs, he was the starting center.
He was the starting center in the Knicks and Heat series in '11 playoffs before getting bounced by Miami.
In 2011-12 season, once again, O'Neal was the starting center before he went down with another injury and they moved KG to C and Bass to starting PF.
In that time between the end of '10/11 season and the beginning of 11/12 season, O'Neal was given the chance of being a starting center and didn't really do anything memorable (except when he stood right in front of Lebron in that Sunday afternoon game and got under his skin.)
I wanted to see Jermaine succeed here as well. However, injuries or not, when a player's performance on the court isn't great, it's hard to say he did well or "would've done well if it wasn't for injuries."
