Absolutely. Trading Perk was and still is the dumbest move Danny Ainge ever made. When Celtics traded Perk, they lost their toughness.

If Wade or Lebron try acting tough again with us, Perk will literally tear their heads off.

Oh, and please feel free to take Green back to OKC. Never saw the big deal with him

All that toughness is why he's probably being waived. Trading Perk was one of the best and ballsiest moves in the past 5 years. Look at Perkins now, he's a useless bum with no lift
And terrible hands. Danny built up his trade value and got something back for him before letting him walk to OKC for nothing. Can u imagine if we we're paying him 9 million instead of Green? Wake up and look at the bigger picture.
LOL at calling Perk a bum you're a bum for that

Agreed. He never put up big numbers for us and we learned how much he meant despite that...many even used the excuse we would've won a game 7 of the finals if perk didn't get hurt. Perk wasn't good in last years finals but they wouldn't have gotten there if they were still going with Jeff green! We saw firsthand how much this team missed him when he left...quite frankly they've still never been the same....so call him a bum all you want...hes a good guy to do battle with.

So you'd both pay Perkins 9 million a year ahead of Jeff green? Lawl. Very tradeable assett right now.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I think what really bothers me (and even I didn't realize this until after the trade) is people underestimate Perk's toughness.

Perk was and is a legitimate tough guy. No offense to KG and I am a big KG fan, but KG and other players like Wade, Lebron, Rondo, etc are "fake" tough guys.

They talk a good game but it's all for show. Perk was legitimately tough and when he was traded, that void was never filled.

I am somewhat amused at how "talented" people think Jeff Green is and how that trade was a win for the Celtics.

Green is an average talent at best and Perk's asset was NOT skill or offense. But that he was an intimidating presence in the paint.

He was never afraid to mix it up with any other player. Guess what, there's no other player right now on the Celtics that has that "chip on their shoulder" like Perk.

Although I know how menacing KG's "rrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooaaaaaaarrrrrr" is

It's a bad sign when a player's assets don't include "skill." And he's not that intimidating in the paint anymore. See: Finals, last year.

I'd love Perk back.  I wouldn't love his contract though.

I suppose, if we could just undo the trade and send Green back to OKC, it would be acceptable.

While neither player is worth their contract.  At least Perk can play defense and rebound, though.  Jeff Green is just a waste of a roster spot, the dude is worthless.

FWIW - judging from how Green is playing...it really seems like this trade is turning out to be a wash.

I would have to agree with this. Since the trade neither player has performed well enough to say, inarguably, that they have out-performed the other.

Jeff Green has a much better chance of being the better performed player by the end of the season however. If they keep going as they are though it's a pretty even deal.

Though there are numerous overpaid big men in the NBA but very few overpaid back up small forwards.

Perkins was a solid "starter" five years ago, but he was always an offensive liability and an overrated defender.

The league is changing. Teams are figuring out the Thibs-style defense that we've been rolling with the last few years, and guys like Perk are being exposed by it.

Nope he wasn't an overrated defender for us, he was brilliant enough defensively next to kg to actually make him better as he has serge ibaka...Jeff green makes neither the offense or defends better.

Do you even watch the Thunder?!?
Perkins is TERRIBLE. He is the weak link in their starting unit. This is known league wide. He does not have the lateral foot speed to guard the best bigs in the NBA like he did in Boston.
He WAS a very good, servicable center who struck gold when he was paired up to the best defensive big man in the NBA in Keving Garnett 5 years ago. KG covered up his mistakes, much like he covers up Wilcox or Bass' mistakes.

He is a worthless BUM now. He can't jump. He can't shoot. He drops so many easy passes. He can't finish around the rim and gets blocked more than any other starting center in the NBA!
He has turned to garbage and the Thunder are paying him 9 million per year. We have Jeff Green, Melo and we would have had the rights to Krstic if he were playing in the NBA all because of not giving Perkins that horrid contract all those years ago. He would have walked to OKC because there was no way Danny was giving him that much money because he knew how overrated Perkins was due to Kevin Garnett's influence on the court and Rondo's easy passes every game. He's a starting center that averages 4 points and 6 rebounds on 9 million a year. LOL. Can you imagine if he were here, how much torture Danny Ainge would be going through?

I love Perk, he was great for us and was an amazing team mate and was the epitome of a Celtic. Unfortunately injuries and father time have caused him to decline at a stupendous rate and he's a 9 million dollar headache for the Thunder right now. In fact he's the reason they had to ditch Harden and gamble on the Rockets trade.

No one is saying that Perkins wasn't a beast for us, but he SUCKS now, and Danny, Doc and Co do not want him back unless it's for the veterans minimum because that's about what he's worth- and we got rid of him at just the right time.

You act like putting him in a green uniform will somehow fix his knees and get his foot speed back to what it was in 2008. He's cooked, he's done.
His time came and went and he's lucky he was a Celtic on that championship team with teammates that made him look so good because he could have been another Nazr Mohammed coming off the bench for any team. His lucky circumstances netted him a 35 million+ contract that he would never get if he wasn't playing for Boston under the bright lights.

Be realistic here lol. He's been on two NBA teams with at least 5 hall of famers in his starting line ups, gifting him the ball and covering his big ass on defense. Even now he plays with one of the best help defenders in the league in Ibaka and they're thinking of starting Collison.

Perk was servicable.

But getting the old gang back together almost never works, we can't get Benedict (errr Ray) back.

get over yourself. I said he wasnt an overratted defender for us and he wasnt. as garbage as perkins is hes been better for them then jeff green has been for us... Jeff Green missed an entire season and has been absolutely putrid when he has played. ill wait and see if the thunder start starting collison but i doubt it...he wont be defending the best centers in the west

Not sure I would want Perk back at this point, but I would sure take a bucket full of his passion for the game and emotion. That certainly is one of the things I see missing on this team. As for Jeff Green -- you or anyone else can have him.
