I know it's early but they look pretty solid, they are playing great defense and sharing the ball. I'd say they are if Carmelo keeps playing like one of the top 3-4 5 guys in the league and they all buy in, it doesn't hurt that they have Chandler anchoring the middle either...whatever the case they'll be a tough out regardless.

They sure have Phili's number, but let's wait and see how they do against a few other teams.

Absolutely...they now have solid point guard play and a good bench. They were my pick to win the division (assuming those old guys can stay healthy).

The Knicks look good to go.  IMO, probably our top competition after Miami, in the East.

The only way they're even fringe contenders is if Amar'e accepts 6th man role and suddenly regains his explosive athleticism.

So yeah they're not contenders.

For 2nd place in the Atlantic Division? Sure.

For an Eastern Conference or NBA title? No way.

Right now I wouldn't say so.  But it wouldn't shock me if they became contenders.

If the Mavs could win a title with Dirk and Chandler as their two main pieces, I don't see why the Knicks could do the same with Melo and Chandler.  Mavs had a lot of other pieces that were key for them, but the Knicks have some too and I'm sure could acquire some.  They just need them all to gel and I think it could happen.  Unlikely, yeah, but possible.

I mostly agree with this.  I could even see them winning the Atlantic depending on how long it takes the C's to gel with all the new players.

But I can't see them getting past the C's, Indiana, or the Heat to get to the EC Finals.

For 2nd place in the Atlantic Division? Sure.

For an Eastern Conference or NBA title? No way.

Yeah Im with this. I bet the Knicks land home court in the playoffs but they wont be able to make the finals. I bet they will start playing poorly as the season progresses. If everything goes right they can be dangerous but that is because of Chandler not Amare. I think Amare is actually going to make them worse.

Carmelo is still a jacker, and that isnt going to change. I think he is absolutely a top 7 player in the league, but he needs to give up some shots per game. he should be around 18 a game not 26 - 27

I see them as contenders to continue Melo's legacy of first round knockouts.
