I was wondering if this had crossed anyone's mind while watching the past 2 games..

What happened to Jeff Green being our "power 3"?????

I have seen him guarded by Wade, Battier, Dunleavy too name a few and not 1 touch in the post. Judging from preseason I think this is where he most comfortable, not shooting corner 3s.

The blame I feel goes all around. Yes JG should be more aggressive but I think Rondo and Doc need to recognize these mismatches and work them.

Thoughts?

His one rebound that he had in 27 minutes doesn't count as a touch in the post?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I didn't see the second game but against the Heat it was pretty clear JG was in his own head. He got one or 2 good shots against Barrier in the post that he just missed. I'm hoping it will come with time.

Unfortunately, the roster pieces still don't fit together.

Our best players are a PF, SF and a PG.  Green is our 4th best player, but he's also a SF.  We're also playing our starting PF at C, because we have no better option and then filling that PF role with some bench players.

Poor Jeff Green.  The issue in OKC was that he was forced to play PF due to Kevin Durant owning the SF role.  Things were supposed to be better for him in Boston, but it looks like we're still going to ask him to pretend to be a big man for a large chunk of minutes.

How about we wait for Jeff Green to show up for a game before asking him  to actually, you know, do something positive?

You can't get the ball in the post if you don't demand the ball in the post by sealing your man and raising a hand.

KG is a 5 now - he's a better 5 in today's NBA than a 4.  He's not forced to play it because we don't have another option - he's playing it because he's one of the best 5s in the league.

I agree that our 4 corps is underwhelming, but KG is a great 5 and we should keep him there.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Chicago Bulls

Head Coach: Fred Hoiberg

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela
Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye
Deep Bench: CJ Watson, H. Thompson, P. Zipser, Papagiannis, Mejri

KG might be a "great" 5 by today's standards, but he is not a great 5.

Jeff Green was the worst signing this summer. Notice his defense on his man Rashard Lewis in the clip below. Jeff Green has the worst plus/minus out of all of the Celtics by far. He is even more pathetic on defense than he has been on rebounding from what I have seen.

JGreen has been banned from the offense.  His job is to find a corner and stay.
Not sure why.

It is Rondo's team now so I guess we'll have to ask him.

It appears that we have decided to run the  "The Toilet Offense".... Where one man controls the ball for 20secs, tries to penetrate and kick.....

...kind of waisting good talent.  Not only JGreen but also one of the best sixth man in the past decade -JTerry.  Something is very wrong with the Toilet Offense.

I say give PP or JG the ball on top of the key and let them go to work as Point Forwards.
