  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I hope Doc can fix it...  :(

Our pick and roll defense is horrible. I hope Doc can work with Bass/Green/Sully and get them to transition/move their feet faster. We can't have them giving up easy baskets.

Also, Jeff Green is a 3.

I really do wish we could use one of our 3(make that 2) defensive specialist big men in Milicic or Collins. Just add a paint presence...an intimidation factor for several minutes, which could really help us out. This team overall has one of the softest interior defense in the last 5-6 years.

It's not just our bigs.  Our guard play has been pretty poor.  Too aggressive at times, whether they are gambling for a steal or trying to run over the screen.  The general team defense has been terrible.

Our not so big men, green/bass/sully, are terrible at rotating back down to get the cutting big man and that was apparent in the loss last night. I can't count how many times I said , "why is he wide open?" When a bucks player was going down the middle after a pick and roll.

Problem is we keep running into hybrid teams with small quick Centers. Darko and Collins have a hard time with them.

Bass and Sully aren't rim protectors and aren't quick enough to get back in pick and roll D. Or recover when some one jumps out.

Every one keeps talking about J Smith and Im seeing why. Good deffender, protects the rim and boards.

We have to many guys right now, I get having them in case some one goes down, but its hard for players to get in a groove when they play in a couple minute stretch's

Don't blame it on small ball.

This team has been able to lock other teams down defensively with linueps that included the likes of Posey and Pietrus at the 4.

Furthermore, let's not pretend that our current starting lineup (and the one from last year) is really anything but small ball to begin with.  Bass is an undersized power forward barely bigger than Paul Pierce who provides no shot blocking, no post game, and on a good day is an average rebounder.  And we were a very good defensive team with Bass manning the 4 last year.

With the way some people are whining about Green at the 4, you'd think we were subbing him in for Kevin McHale.

That's not to say that Green isn't to blame.  He needs to be better on defense, but so does the whole team.

But it's not because of small ball, it's because the defense of the players on the court simply isn't up to par.

The problem is, Doc was subbing Green for KG last night. That is a real head scratcher.
