There are plenty of reasons for that.
-They downgraded their center position by trading away Bynum. Granted, Bynum wouldn't even be able to play, so, they can feel they were lucky were this season.
-Gasol hasn't been as good as he was in the past seasons. As soft as he has always been, but he was a whole lot more efficient. He was derailed by injuries, as well.
-Nash isn't the one we know anymore. He can't carry the team offense alone, and when he can't do that, his defensive liabilities become more critical.

So, I'm not one bit surprised by their current state. I expected them to be a couple of games above .500, to be fair, but a borderline play-off team, that's it.

agree.......they will make it( the playoff) from Kobes play carrying them and help from Houston and Utah  folding to the bottom feeders of the NBA.

I never thought Utah would fold so bad ......just incredible ....they are coachless.

LA will face OKC or Spurs in the first round.....Gasol won't save them from destruction.

Ugh, Lakers have been playing some pretty good basketball since the All-Star break.  Can't possibly see them missing the playoffs at this point.

Not liking this at all.  I forsee LA pulling a major upset of some top teams.

Sunday night hoops on ESPN got replaced tonight for the World Baseball Classic. I was very disappointed with ESPN on this decision. Then I tuned in to the WBC and its not even in commentated in english. Im all in for the celebration of latin american sports, but don't take away a great thing like sunday night hoops and give me programming that I cannot comprehend.

I prefer Friday night hoops or the Sunday Showcase, but yea, I only like watching sports named basketball and I'm not really a fan of college basketball either (March Madness coming around) with my main man DRAYMOND GREEN gone :(

Did not know OKC acquired Ronnie Brewer (for a 2nd round pick) until I saw their box score.

Solid move.

Edit: And Ezeli...oh what a miss on Ezeli. Would love his 10 boards.

We might have gotten blown out by the Bobcats, but the Spurs face troubles of their own as they get blown out by the T-Wolves! #PGProblems Also, Ricky Rubio got his first triple-double (his initials are also RR and his number is also 9).. hm.... coincidence? I think not.

Dwight Howard is starting to scare me.

39pts 16reb tonight in his return to Orlando.

25 for 39 from the free throw line.  :o

Dude is getting healthy, and more importantly, seems to be getting his head on straight.

Only because of Hack-A-Howard (mostly in late second-half)
