We should have dealt Ray to Miami via s/t and somehow fanagled Chalmers in the deal

We had no leverage to force a S&T.

As for the deal, I don't think dealing our only two healthy veteran SGs for a backup PG makes our roster better.  We'd be moving a starter plus our sixth man to slightly upgrade our ball-handling.  In my mind, that's not a great idea.

It would be tough for me to watch Chalmers play in Celtic Green. He is in my top-3 for players I just can't stand.

Oh and he's a terrible point guard. He's so bad that they've tried everything else so he wouldn't have to handle the ball.

I second the Andre Miller bid but my guess is he's staying in Denver.

I did not even notice the Jason Terry part. Why!? Why would you suggest something like that?

that idea earns minus 3 tommy points!

Thanks for the constructive post buddy

Well, it is worth minus TPs!

Lets go ahead and trade one of the best 3pt shooters and clutch players of all time for an annoying cocker-spaniel looking backup player  ??? ??? ???

This is hands down one of the worst trade ideas ive heard on here.

geeeeeez.....

Hands down no question. Minus 3 is generous I say this is worth minus 6.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I expect Rondo to play at least 35 minutes so what's wrong with pg by commitee for 13 minutes or so?

Not to mention, it wouldn't have made a lot of sense from a cap standpoint (it would have pushed them over the threshold).  Had they made that deal, they wouldn't have been able to get both Terry and Lee.  And I think Terry is a MUCH better backup PG than Chalmers, and Lee is both a better player, and fills a much bigger need than Chalmers.

Even if we found a way to make the money work, Chalmers would still just be sitting at the end of the bench once Bradley returns.  He would be an expensive insurance policy.

I think you are undershooting pretty liberally.  I think Rondo will be averaging 38-40 minutes per game...more while Bradley is out.  And he will likely be playing 42+ minutes in tight games.

Besides Chalmers will they send Bosh or something? Or just 6 draft picks and a lot of cash? I'm trying to figure out how this could work.

I've been saying if we could get one of their refs, we'd be golden.

Sure, our wins will be less glorious...but I suppose we have to win however we can.

I'm pretty sure Stern would veto trading for one of their refs....on the other hand...they'd still have every other ref in the league. It would be risky for sure

LeBron and Wade would never let management trade Mario Chalmers, because then the public would find out he's the real superstar on the Heat.

Without Chalmers holding that team together through sick skills and sheer tyranny of will, they're mid-lottery at best.  Meanwhile, we'd have to deal with talk of the league disbanding because there's no point in competing with us.  It's a lose-lose.

Chalmers is the best player in the trade and Rondo only plays 70 games a year.

That said, I still wouldn't make the trade because it doesn't make sense for this roster and the Heat wouldn't make the trade either so it doesn't matter.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
