I hate day to day

This missed training camp is a big blow for Wilcox. Really hurts his chances of claiming a rotation place. Looks like we'll be going big (Darko over Wilcox) with that second unit.

Great opportunity for Darko.
Has he looked any fitter in the preseason? I have't been able to catch more than a few highlights.
I haven't been watching any of the preseason games (for any team) so far. Waiting for the real games to begin.

A lot of the reports from others in the forum on Darko's play have been pretty positive.
Well worst case scenario we can enjoy him trying to post up Rasheed, spare tire to spare tire.

I think Darko's looked pretty good, especially on shot blocking and rebounding, and I like his effort so far. I remember one play in particular—it was one of the European games—he fell on his butt (while trying to box out, I think), and when the rebound fell toward his head, he reached up and back-tapped it to a teammate. I've really liked his performance so far.

Still, Wilcox is one of my favorite players, so I really want to see him back.

If Darko can resist trying to do too much offensively, he can be a real difference maker on the defensive end with his bulk and shot-blocking ability.

He hasn't looked like a third pick overall, and it's pretty clear why, for example, they would be disappointed in MN after trying to start him next to Kevin Love. But he has looked reasonably solid. Playing alongside Rondo will help, I just hope the thumb is not a lingering issue.

I feel like Wilcox has been the forgotten man because he hasn't played yet. The guy can be VERY useful in the frontcourt. He's an amazing athlete and a very good rebounder. I think Darko in the end will be more useful because he's a defensive presence, but Wilcox can thrive more in the fastbreak as another option for Rondo to throw alley-oops too.

I really loved what Chris Wilcox brought to the floor for us last year.  He showed a lot of speed, athleticism, and energy.  Unfortunately, it took him a while to get in the groove of things, and then once he did, it wasn't long before he was lost for the season with that heart ailment.

I do worry about how much he'll be able to contribute this year.  He's always been injury prone, and what's worse for me is that in the interviews I've seen with him since being cleared to play, frankly, he seems nervous and gun shy.  The doctors may have cleared him to play, but he doesn't seem like he's put that scary heart condition behind him.

I haven't felt any of that itching to get back on the court with a brand new chance hunger from him that Jeff Green has been exuding so far in the preseason.

Time will tell.  I'm rooting for him, but I'm glad we got Darko, too.  They are totally different players, but I think we might end up relying on the big, crazy Serb quite a bit this season.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I like Wilcox because he can run well with Rondo and provides lots of depth.

However, as others have said, with KG, Sullinger, Bass, and Darko around, plus Green getting minutes at the 4, I don't know if there's really a place for him in a regular rotation.

But it will be nice if he eventually make it back.  His presence will be great for depth and would give Danny the flexibility to deal someone like Bass without having to worry about losing depth at the 4.

Quote
Q: What impact do you see Chris Wilcox having this season with the emergence of Jared Sullinger? (Trade bait?) -- Tom (Acton, Mass.)

A: Wilcox has to get himself ready, physically, first. As Rivers noted even before the start of camp, Wilcox underwent surgery nearly four months after Jeff Green, so we should all remember that he's a bit further behind in his recovery. Wilcox admitted that he rushed himself a bit to be ready for camp and, having battled some back spasms, he's now focused on getting his conditioning and strength where it needs to be in order to stay on the floor. When healthy, Wilcox can help this team as a forward or center who can rebound and run the floor with Rondo. Boston will find minutes for him when he can contribute.

This Forsberg Q&A kind of coagulates everything and gives a better picture on Wilcox's condition.

I was worried about his back. Might be more about his conditioning if anything. Hope he pulls a Jeff Green.

Yeah Darko is still pretty flabby. Hopefully he can play himself into shape otherwise i dont see him being valuable for long stretches of games.

He has looked great in the preseason thoufh... It is just obvious when he gets winded he gets careless
