KG has a no-trade clause. Otherwise I seriously consider it. Also no way portland makes that deal. They passed on Sully (twice) and Aldridge for an aging Garnett is just bad business.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
In a heartbeat. But KG's no trade clause and the Blazers saying no would hold things up a bit.

If I were going into rebuild or blow-it-up mode, yeah.

But just a straight up trade as such wouldn't give us the same shot at Banner 18, IMO, because KG is too much of an emotional leader, defensive anchor, etc, etc - for this team right now.

I'm not sure if I'd do it. I worry that the Blazer officials would sober up on the phone at some point.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Of these four, the best combination for win now is KG + Hickson and the best for rebuilding is LA + Sully.

I would really rather win now, and KG would attribute better to that than LA (in terms of playoffs/leadership/etc).
I like Marcus Smart

In 'win now' mode, not a chance in hell.

KG is on not far off Aldridge offensively, but his impact on defense (and as a leader) is something LA can't match.

Aldridge is no shabby defender don't get me wrong, but not to the point where his mere presence completely changes the entire defensive philosophy of his team.  KG leaves Boston and I guarantee you we go from a #1 defense to a #15 defense overnight.  No currently active player bar KG, Dwight and Chandler can really have that type of defensive impact on their own, and neigher Dwight or Chandler is as accomplished offensively as KG.

If we are building for the future maybe...but hard to say.  I'd argue Sully has far more upside then Hickson, and when KG's contact expires we get $10M off the books which is enough to potentially sign a Josh Smith type player.  Personally I'd take J Smith over Aldridge.  I'd very seriously think about it for a rebuilding team, but i'd probably say no in the end simply because of the value and potental of Sullinger.

KG is pretty much just a jump shooter right now.

But on the defensive end, as an emotional leader there's nobody like him.

Hell no.
When you lose, the easy part is to see who gives up. Giving up is very simple. You basically take your stuff and walk away. To continue to work and to continue to compete is one of the most difficult things, especially when you really don't have anything - KG

Well....judging by the amount of times he did score in the paint during the playoffs, from what I've seen from KG I think he CAN score in the paint, and did so with some regularity during the playoffs.

This game to close out ATL in the playoffs last year proved that, to me:

KG basically worked over Dampier, Horford, and Josh Smith that game - many of them were post moves, too.

Loved that game. KG basically put BOS on his back and carried us.

What a performance.

I'm gonna miss this in 3 years.....

Uhhmmm merrrrr, ehhhmmm, hmmmmm, lemme seeeee, uhhhhh

no.

Even if it were possible, no. It would benefit our teams future, I know. But, it's freakin KG, man. I have a loyalty to players who gave us their all. I'm not greedy like most GMs, and wannabe GMS. And Sullinger can potentially turn into a top PF, himself; bulging D's or no bulging D's.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

KG is one of my favorite NBA players of all time.  No way. I'd throw him under the bus  .  I want him one place...till he walks away

IN BOSTON !!

I wouldn't trade Sully and FAb for him much less KG until , I see how the youngsters turn out.

He's a beast.

But I feel like he's been in overdrive in the playoffs last year. He stepped up big in the absence of everyone but Rondo and Bass.

Perhaps playing center was the reason. Or perhaps he's suddenly a lot more acquainted to his age. Hopefully it's not just a mean streak. I think it's possible.

Regardless, the original post was comparing KG to LaMarcus Aldridge on the offensive end. LeMarcus Aldridge consistently puts up 20 a night. Even the playoff KG couldn't do that.

Certainly not an insult to KG though. And TP for pointing out KG's offensive prowess in the playoffs. I'm certainly hoping it remains.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
KG is my favorite player but I'd make this trade for the Boston Celtics.
Aldridge+ Rondo would a deadly offensive combo and give us a good 6-7 year championship window because of the players we could surround them with.
Aldridge, Rondo, Josh Smith and a top tier free agent SG like Harden?
KG might have 1 good year left and that's if his body holds up getting banged around in the middle.
Of course I make this trade if I could- but it would never happen.
If you think Ainge wouldn't pull the trigger on this in a heartbeat you're kidding yourself :)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
