Ok, it's Friday, and for those with a slow work day waiting for the weekend, I thought I'd try to start a new game.

I've always been into music samples, I used to read the liner notes of my CD's and looked up the songs that were sampled.  In the mid-2000's I started getting more into 70's and 80's soul and funk, and it amazed me how many songs were significantly sampled to make a modern song.  And it also amazes me how many times the same song can be sampled.  Just the other day my wife was talking about how Drake was copying one of her favorite songs, At Your Best (You Are Love) by Aaliyah, so then I had to throw on the original Isley Brothers version, she was surprised that Aaliyah had actually copied it first.

So onto the game. At first I was thinking we should play a current song and see who could name where the sample comes from, but I thought that might be too difficult, so I think we should switch it around and play the original song, and have us try to name a song that samples it. In many cases there could be more than one answer, but usually at least one obvious answer.

So I'll start with one, get it right and post your own, and of course TP's will be awarded!

(If you need ideas, you can go to YouTube and type in something like Kanye West Samples, Lil Wayne Samples, etc., or you can go do my 70's and 80's Pandora soul funk radio station and you'll probably hear something you recognize within a few songs.)

Lol ok I guess I bombed on my attempt to start a game as nobody is playing.

But I'll give this one more try before I let it die.  Trying to lob some easy ones up there.  Who sampled this?

I remember it from the crappy techo remix from the early 2000's.

Not the incredibly easy answer I was expecting, but if I had the power I'd give you extra TP's for going the harder route.

Still other answers out there for that one, plus my first one is still in play if anybody wants to play...

ITs from the Jay-z track off of the American Gangster soundtrack. Can't think of the title.

IP are you toying with me?  I thought you were a Kanye West fan.

TP for sahara for Mass Production's Firecracker = 2 Live Crew's Me so Horny.

And you responded with another classic.

Fun game, TP.

Here's kind of a tricky one:

EDIT:  Holy crap, looked it up and maybe it's not tricky because there are like 20 correct answers.  One in particular I'm thinking of though.

Might be tricky depending on what you listen to:

Hmm, made me think about this one, but I know thatīs not the song that Necro sampled the bassline from. So let this be my guess and the question at the same time!

This kind of reverses the question - here's the song your song is sampling:

For my one, I'll give a hint - the song I'm looking for isn't rap/hip-hop
