Ok, it's Friday, and for those with a slow work day waiting for the weekend, I thought I'd try to start a new game.
I've always been into music samples, I used to read the liner notes of my CD's and looked up the songs that were sampled. In the mid-2000's I started getting more into 70's and 80's soul and funk, and it amazed me how many songs were significantly sampled to make a modern song. And it also amazes me how many times the same song can be sampled. Just the other day my wife was talking about how Drake was copying one of her favorite songs, At Your Best (You Are Love) by Aaliyah, so then I had to throw on the original Isley Brothers version, she was surprised that Aaliyah had actually copied it first.
So onto the game. At first I was thinking we should play a current song and see who could name where the sample comes from, but I thought that might be too difficult, so I think we should switch it around and play the original song, and have us try to name a song that samples it. In many cases there could be more than one answer, but usually at least one obvious answer.
So I'll start with one, get it right and post your own, and of course TP's will be awarded!

or you can go do my 70's and 80's Pandora soul funk radio station and you'll probably hear something you recognize within a few songs.)
