Overall it's Em.  Nobody can paint a picture in your mind like him.  Best lyrics too.
Philly:

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

You can make a case for Nas as the GOAT.

And I could be swayed in that direction.

I can't include people like Big L or Biggie though.  Was it their faults they were murdered of course not but they never had a chance to fall of.  So when you talk GOAT longevity has to be considered.

With all that said though...my fav rapper hands down is 3stacks (aka Andre 3000) though.  Listen to his verse on Sixteen on the new Rick Ross CD.
"The only correct actions are those that demand no explanation and no apology."

I agree.  Nas is the best lyricist (which IMO is really the only thing that matters, along with flow 'which Biggie had') and Illmatic is the best rap album ever.

I'll cosign the OP. What took this thread so long? I've been bumping life is good for a while now. Very mature album I love it definitely a classic. Lupe is good, but a bit overrated around these parts.

Yeah Life is Good is a mature album for Nas. Alot of people weren't feeling the Daughters song, but I loved it

Whats your list of best Nas albums?
Mine is

1. It Was Written
2. Illmatic
3. Life is Good
4. Stillmatic
5. Untitled

how can you make a list of nas' albums and not have illmatic at #1?!?!  that was one of the most influential albums in all of hip hop!

btw, i love it was written as well, but it cant compare to illmatic imo

It Was Written and Illmatic are always neck and neck to me. Personally Illmatic changed my perspective on life

But as far as which album is better, I gotta say It Was Written. Its more cinematic, Nas stepped up lyricism another notch, legendary lol

"I never brag, how real I keep it, cause it's the best secret
I rock a vest, prestigious, Cuban link flooded Jesus
in a Lex watchin Kathie Lee and Regis
My actions are one with the seasons"

"Queens murder clicks meet, yellow tapes on black gates
Mediterranean, projects is like Kuwait
I escape into zones, that's irregular
Why debate on a phone, I'm solar cellular"

Big L is the punchline king but across entire tracks, Nas's lyrics were better from beginning to finish.

Anyone know who is rapping on this. He's breaking down On to the next one explaining that it's Gothic and it starts at 50 seconds also about how the black crows is satanic in reference to beyonce.

The new Nas album is pretty great.  I like the song about his daughter.
We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?

I love Andre3k as well. I feel like he teases fans with his features. IMO, it's between Nas and Jay-z as GOAT because they've both did it at the highest levels for the longest times. The reason I give Nas the go ahead right now, although I'm a huge Jay-z fan is because I prefer his more recent albums. Jay-z good at making music that sells, but it really all sounds the same these days(context wise).

you're all forgetting one man

he's gotten way to arrogant seems like he's just wants to complain about something but i agree as a producer he is a beast...i think i have all his cds....i just think  the success has gotten to his head...

I'll say this, starting at 2:40 is the best I've heard.
