I like Lupe's music too
Did you hear about the beef he had with Pete Rock?
He was mad Lupe used his "They Reminisce Over You" instrumental. To me Pete Rock sounded bitter

Honestly Pete Rock comes off as a hypocrite in this situation. He himself sampled the track. Crying because another artist sampled a sample is pitiful.

Exactly same thing I was thinking, maybe he's mad he didn't get a check off of Lupe's song

So how do you like Nas' new album?

Surprised nobody has mentioned Rakim, he is the true meaning of hip hop. Artists like Nas, Jay-Z, 2pac, Biggie, Lupe Fiasco, and DMX wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him.

Nas is the best MC to ever do it. Honestly. He's definitely the most skilled but he's my 2nd favorite.

Who's your first?

Lupe. More enjoyable to me.

Andre 3000 is up there to. 3000 also credits Eric B and Rakim for where he is.

If you define GOAT by lyrics and infulence, here is my top 5 in no order.

NAS
Common
Rakim
Jay Z
KRS-One

notable mention of Andre 3000 and Big Daddy Kane.

Love Rakim, Ain't no Joke was one of the first rap songs I memorized

But also don't forget Kool G Rap. Came around the same time as Rakim, just as lyrical. Nas sited him as a big influence
The best flow ever IMO

I haven't had a chance to listen to it. Reading rave reviews about the album has me excited once I get around to it.

What about yourself like/dislike the album?

I haven't heard Nas' new album yet, as I've been listening to It Was Written in my car over and over and over and over for the past few weeks. My wife is hates it but it's my car so whatever.

Nas is up there on the top shelf, but Biggie is still the illest.

While Nas has clearly a lot more to his catalog, in my opinion there's no touching Biggie.

I love the album. He has that hunger like "Don't forget that I'm Nas, and I'm still on my A game"

And the production is awesome. The orchestral beats makes it like a complete movie

I'll cosign the OP. What took this thread so long? I've been bumping life is good for a while now. Very mature album I love it definitely a classic. Lupe is good, but a bit overrated around these parts.

Yeah Life is Good is a mature album for Nas. Alot of people weren't feeling the Daughters song, but I loved it

Whats your list of best Nas albums?
Mine is

1. It Was Written
2. Illmatic
3. Life is Good
4. Stillmatic
5. Untitled
