Didn't see one yet so I thought I'd start one.

The Red Sox are gauging interest for Beckett and have checked in with the Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves. reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports. One that may be interested in acquiring Beckett are the Los Angeles Dodgers, tweets Passan.

Quote
The Red Sox have reportedly contacted both the Rangers and the Braves, two teams they believe Beckett would accept a trade to, and two teams whose interest in starting pitching help is no secret. The Braves reportedly had a deal for Ryan Dempster in place that fell through, while the Rangers recently lost Colby Lewis for the season to elbow surgery, while Neftali Feliz had a setback in his rehab for his own elbow, just days before and after the second-place Angels acquired Zack Greinke from the Brewers.

As Passan says, the likelihood of a deal rests with just how much of the $37.3 million left on Beckett's deal the Red Sox are willing to eat. Both the Braves and Rangers have the prospects to send Boston in exchange for Beckett, but given the 32-year-old right-hander has seen a decrease in his velocity, fastball usage, and strikeout rate, it's going to take absorbing some of the cost of the contract in order to get at those kids.

This could be a very interesting deadline, because for the first time in years, the Sox could (and possibly SHOULD) be sellers.  I wonder whether they will have the guts to do that however.

To me, the writing is on the wall.  The chemistry of the team stinks, and I really question whether they can revive the season without making MAJOR changes, particularly to the pitching staff.

And honestly, I think the fans might even embrace a youth movement for the rest of the season.  I just am not sure ownership will buy into it.

I really hope they can pull this off.  To say Beckett has worn out his welcome in Boston would be the understatement of the year.  They need to fix the locker room culture and moving Beckett is a huge step in the right direction.

As a 10/5 guy, he does have veto power over a deal, but I'm sure he'd welcome a trade to the Rangers.  They can put the surprisingly effective as a starter Franklin Morales back in the rotation with Beckett gone.

Sox need to blow this thing up & become sellers.

First time in a long time (that '01 team still might take the cake) that I've legitimately despised the Red Sox.  They're still my team but its not enjoyable this season.  They're not likable at all.

Pretty much ready for Pats season already.  The Sox have just not pulled me in at all this year.

I agree.  Sell.  Maybe each individual doesn't deserve to take the blame, but as a group it isn't working and it might be a good idea to start over for next year.

Exactly.  Clear the books a bit.  Restock the farm.  And try again with some fresh meat.

The word is out now that the Dodgers put in a trade waiver claim on Adrian Gonzalez.  So now the Sox have 48 hours to make a decision:

1) Pull him back from waivers

2) Work out a deal with the Dodgers

3) Say "take him" and the Dodgers pick up A-Gon and the rest of his contract.

Curious to see what happens here...

Interesting options.

I don't think they can just let him walk after what they gave up to get him.  Wonder what he's worth to the Dodgers.

The Dodgers have definitely been willing to go "all in" thos year.
Yup

Dodgers claimed Beckett too.

I say let Beckett walk and pull Gonzalez back off waivers.

Definitely let Beckett walk.  Nothing but money invested in him on this contract.

It'd be kind of funny if he and Hanley ended up on the same team.
Yup

Maybe they can pick up Mike Lowell, too. ;)

Please let them take his contract!  I'll take my Sox shirt out of the bottom drawer and start wearing it again if Beckett is gone.
