Sadly, this doesn't appears to be anything new from ESPN.  The Broussard Deron Williams staff from a few weeks back was laughable.

Seems like almost on a weekly basis something comes out that casts a negative light about ESPN and its practices.

Its definitely not the same ESPN as my childhood.  Its certainly gone downhill.

Good find.
Would love for this story to blow up a bit more. Yahoo's Ball Don't Lie might just be the way for that to happen, if anyone has an in with Kelly Dwyer.
Celtics fan for life.

Wow.  As the deadspin story says, that level of plagiarism really would get you expelled from college.

I stopped watching ESPN a few years ago for anything other than live sporting events, and things like reinforce that decision.

absolutely it matters. Plagiarism is theft. You can't steal stuff and get away with it.

If they're making money off of it, then yes.  I wouldn't want my hard work to make money for someone else.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Could RealGM bring this to court if it wanted to?

Sad.

Just spent several semesters with English Instructors warning us about the same thing.

Yes.

Then maybe we'll see RealGM's interface become fancy sometime in the near future.  8)

It depends on whether their content is copywritten, and if the report is plagarized word for word.

You can copywrite the exact words you use to convey information; the information itself cannot be copywritten.

It is worthy of note, however, that the incidence of television reporters doing this is growing by leaps and bounds.

ok, i get that theft of any kind is wrong and that if money is involved it's meaningful, but in this particular case if ESPN was going to report this story, ( and of course they were) then what difference does it really make if they use these exact words instead of just changing the words around a bit.
I mean, how many different ways are there to say DH is still demanding a trade? If you're reporting the exact same facts that somebody else just did then isn't exact word choice kind of irrelevant?
I think the guy from Real GM should be acknowledged as the source, but otherwise this seems kind of silly.
