Dirk has a no trade clause.... He is one of 2 players in the league with it.

I'm thinking, trade deadline, maybe Green and Bass (with some picks & younguns) for Dirk.

Dallas should be crappy enough by then, and finally realizing it's over down there, to maybe be motivated.

I'd scream from the mountain tops with joy!

Imagine KG and Dirk playing next to each other.

correct me if i'm mistaken, but i believe a no-trade clause means a player cannot be traded without his own consent.

I can't see Dirk leaving Dallas, no matter how bad their team is.

Nowitzki to Determine Future in Dallas?

(Question) Comment From magicmike … With this offseason being a bust thus far, how much stock do they put in trying to lure one of the big fish next year? If they don’t get one – is it time to start looking to move Dirk (Nowitzki) for the future – allow him to try and play for another and allow them to start trying to rebuild a winner.

(Answer) (Eddie) Sefko: I suspect they will defer to Dirk. And if he wants to move along and take one more swing at the title, they’d do what they could to make it happen for him. But I just don’t see that being Dirk’s style. He may be one of those rare stars who stays the whole time with one team. That would only be right. He’s got a title. Trying to resuscitate this franchise would be a bigger feather in his cap than going to Chicago or Boston or LA or — please, God, no — Miami.

He [Dirk} was asked if he could ever see a time when he would request a trade if the pieces didn't come together as planned.

"I’m not sure," Nowitzki, 34, said. "I’ve always said I want to finish my career here and obviously the championship season topped it all off; that’s what I always was chasing and dreaming about so that kind of sealed that deal on that front. If we really come out with nobody this summer then maybe they want to rebuild and, obviously, I’m too old for that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on that front. But I still think I got two, three good years left in me and if we get some players in here we can be right back up there and compete."

Dallas almost certainly has to go into rebuild mode. Dirk will at some point be traded, he's too valuable to just squander in a rebuild situation.

Dirk for Bradley jjj and a pick? Dallas laughs, hangs up the phone, then calls us back just to laugh at us some more... Come on man seriously.

I hope Dirk retires as a Mav. As much as I would love to see him in the starting 5 next to KG. (Wow, what a dream team). He deserves to stay there. He won finally won his ring and he can retire as a Mav.
