Would LOVE this move. Double S/T
Give Ray his 2 or 3 year deal his wants for 5-7 mil per.
Swap Nick Young for same deal

Its actual fair value for both side. Knock NY all you want for formerly being on the same roster as Arenas,McGee and Blatche, but HE never really did anything wrong

Put him next to an elite pass-first pg and he'll give us 20ppg and play team defense here.
Terry and Bradley as the backup duo could keep the lead going.

I'd even consider letting Green start, or at least make Pierce sit after 4-5 mins.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I'd be for it - he played pretty well in the playoffs for the Clips last season.

Can he be signed & traded though? I'm pretty sure he forfeited his birdrights in the WSH/LAC trade.
My issue is that he was pretty awful during the regular season.

Am I the only person who'd much rather have Pietrus back?

I'd love to have Pietrus back in the role or Marquis/Sasha
Be there in case of an injury and come in ready to play, possibly start even. But you can't pass up a player like Nick Young when you have a possible trade asset in Ray who seems to have burned himself into a ready to exit position. Both teams interested in eachothers free agent...why not?

Nick Young is a MUCH better future prospect next to Rondo and Green than Pietrus at what 32?
Can't stop, Rondo!

god no, can we take odom instead?
or Reggie Evans? Nick Young is horrible. If we must have nick young they better throw in evans.

I predict that Reggie Evans will be a Celtic this coming season.

Not a huge fan of such a move.
I just looked at his stats from this past year, ugly!

Yeah I'd be okay with it, but not at the price he'd have to be slotted at to match Ray Allen's salary.

Can we sign and trade Ray for a trade exception instead?  Nick Young, blech.

I thought the Clips can't S&T Young.

If we straight up sign him...can't we get him for cheap then?

They don't have his bird rights.

But they could use either cap space (they don't have it) or their MLE (maybe early bird rights, dunno) I believe in a S&T. If Ray chose them they could use the MLE on Young instead of Ray technically and then trade the two players I believe.

Nick Young is a certified chucker. Check out his stats. He averages less than one assist a game and shoots less than 40% from the field and the three. He's a black hole-the kind of guy the Nets usually sign for 10 million a year.
Dont get me started on his horrid defense.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

They could still use their Non-Bird exception to sign him to something like $4.4 mil per.  That would be enough to bring back Ray making more than the MLE.

My issue is that he was pretty awful during the regular season.

Sub par regular season, "flipped the switch" for the postseason - he should fit right in, no?

27 years old, 6'7" - not afraid to take big shots. Whats the issue bringing him in to play behind Rondo/Bradley/JET?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Bringing in Nick Young on the cheap to play behind both Jet and Bradley would be fantastic.

But that's likely not happening. He's gonna need assurances about role, and money.

Money mostly.

How much money will he cost and for how many years.
