Ok, it may be a stupid idea, but just out of interest, will scola help this team?

he played similar minute as Bass but are way more productive: 15.5p, 6.5r, his defense is not worse than Bass, last but not least, he never get injured!

I'd probably do that.  I'm a huge Scola fan.

Don't underrate Bass' defense, though.  It was really good last year.

I'd do it for sure, doubt Houston does.

Yeah...  They probably want more cap flexibility, and they've already got 43 PFs on their roster.

I would stick with Bass. Ive never liked Scola or his game. Bass knows the system already is comfortable with the players here and has proven he is a more than sufficient 5th option starter. He had a money year for us when no one was expecting him to contribute that much.

ya..i think they can get better return for scola,

what about royce white + scola => Bass + JJJ + Moore or Josef + 2013 1st pick?

It's not a deep draft next year anyway.

I used to watch a lot of Rocket's game, and he's the most reliable contributor in that teams for years.

Bass is ok, but he's got limited skill set.

Scola, however, offensively is a lot better, he can shot the jumpers like Bass did, has one of the best post moves. Also he adapt to roles very quickly, he's usually the 3rd choice in Rockets but will step up as a leader when needed.

Id have to pass. Rather pay 4 years/26 mil for Bass than 3 years/30 mil for Scola.

Any trade with the Rockets I would like to see Camby involved. Key is to find a team that wants Bass and is under the cap.

Houston trades Camby
Recieves TPE, Protected 2nd rounder

Boston Trades Bass(3mil or 2013 2nd rounder)
Recieves Camby

3rd Team? trades Protected 2nd rounder
Recieves Bass (3mil or 2013 2nd rounder)

Everyone wins

not a fan of scola.  He's better than Bass, but I'm not a fan.

I would do it if we don't have to much trouble with his salary.

I like Scola just need to get better at D which I doubt he can.

I would do it, would prefer someone more athletic, but I do like Scola.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Scola is a gritty scumbag/grinder kind of player. If KG was cool with playing Center, Scola would be an excellent counterpart.
Decent rebounder and willing to sacrifice his body.
He can hit all the shots Bass hits too, would be a very good addition but hard to afford.

I actually hate Scola as a person and flopper and cheap player but he would be great to pair w KG.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd kind of hate to give up on JJJ after only one season.  Is Scola enough of an upgrade over Bass that it would be worth giving up on the kid already?  Really looking forward to seeing Summer League, seeing what he can do with some consistent playing time; see if he looks ready to contribute (either he or Sully's going to have to contribute this year).

I hadn't thought of this until people mentioned it here, this is a great idea.  I think Scola's rebounding and around the basket scoring are more needed than Bass' great midrange, since we are bringing in Jet and Green.
