Haha. The typical CelticsBlog lineup.

We don't want LeBron! He's a choker! He's never won a ring! Oh, wait.

Getting back on track.........

What not many people have considered is a KG S&T. Don't get me wrong, I love KG as a player and as a figure here in Boston, but after a playoffs like he had, his trade stock must have gone up. Trading him makes getting Josh Smith much more likely (I'm thinking straight up, or with our second round pick), and suddenly we have a young combo of Rondo and Smith moving forward (not to mention that they're buddies).

We then resign Jeff Green, bring in a decent big like McGee, Lopez, or the like, and get some fillers through free agency or draft picks.

Ideal?  OK:

I am putting the cap at $60 million for ease.

Sign KG to 1 year, $12 million (which is below market, but if he wants to stay that badly, its more than reasonable).

Sign and trade Ray and Bass (perhaps in a 3 or 4 team trade) along with next years first, JJJ, and cash to Atlanta for Josh Smith.

Resign Jeff Green to 1 year $6 million deal.

Use half of the MLE to resign Stiemsma to a 2 year/$5 million deal.

Use the part of the MLE to sign CJ Miles to a 1 year/$2.5 million deal.

Use #22 and a second rounder to trade up to ~16 to draft Ross.  Use #21 and cash to trade up to draft Sullinger.

Resign Dooling for the minimum.

Fill out the roster with some vet minimum Players

PG: Rondo, Dooling, Bradley
SG: Bradley, Ross, Miles
SF: Pierce, Green, Miles
PF: Smith, Sullinger, JJJ
C: KG, Stiemsma, Williams

That has been the exact starting line-up I've been pining for since the season ended.  That would be an awesome team, easy Conference Finalist again.

I'd probably go a little different direction for the bench though.  Stiemer is a keeper, but I'm not too comfortable with Sullinger as the other back-up big.  I'd want to get a vet PF on the cheap as insurance, probably Wilcox (if he is able to play).  I'd split the MLE between him and Stiemer and pass on Miles.  Maybe bring back Pavs on a vet min deal as insurance in case Ross isn't ready for the pros.

Also, I'd prefer Nicholson over Sullinger, but it's not worth quibbling over either.

Ideal?

Rondo / Nash
Bradley / Ray
Pierce / Lebron
KG / Durant
Howard / Bynum

Realistically ideal?

Rondo / Dooling
Bradley / Pietrus / Moore
Pierce / Green / JuJuan
KG / Bass / Rebounding PF
Wilcox / Rebounding C / Stiemsma / Hollins

That's a tight knit group that will have great lockerroom chemistry, guys who can run with Rondo in the fast break, great ball pressure, a scoopful of ball handlers, bigs that can shoot (and hopefully rebound), along with a lot of positional versatility with Dooling/Pietrus/Green/KG/Wilcox.

All of this will allowing ourselves to keep the door open to sign Josh Smith next season in free agency at about 4 years 50 million to work with Rondo and Bradley.

Since this can be a dream scenario and I am allowed to throw all rationality out the window, here's my 2012 Dream Celtics team.

Rondo/Lou Williams
Bradley/O.J. Mayo/Moore
Iguodala/Jeff Green/McGrady
Josh Smith/Bass/Wilcox/JJJ
KG/Kamen/Stiemsma

Oh how it feels to dream... ;)

I'm not too excited about the backup guards or late 1st rookies...  Josh Smith is inticing, but not if it means KG being a full time center.

Trading our picks for Milsap or prying Javale McGee-- that's my number 1 and 1a scenarios.

Ray walks & re-sign KG for 2 years $14M
Then, re-sign Green & Bass for $6M each, 1 year.
MLE split for Steamer & MP
vet min for Dooling

Rondo / Dooling
AB / MP
Paul / Green
KG / Bass
McGee (or Milsap) / Steamer

That's a 10 deep, defense first contender right there.
