Draft day is finally here.  Might as well get this thing up and running.

As an aside, if you're looking for a great way to kill some time before tonight, might I suggest reading through the prior year draft threads for some great laughs and cries at some of the predictions of everyone on here.  They're bookmarked at the to of the draft forum.  Great reads.

I will be the first one to throw out a prediction:

-Boston takes Royce White and Fab Melo with their picks. Not Earth shattering stuff but think they feel Melo might help them...eventually

Who would have thought that when we traded Perk the Clippers pick that we got back would be worse than our own?

Also, im gonna throw out a prediction of Quincy Miller and Fab Mello.  I think we can take on a project at center at this time, and who knows he could be serviceable down the road.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

i do think though that White might fall off the board before the Cs get to pick...if that is the case, i could see Danny going for a pure shooter in John Jenkins. This would really give boston some punch off the bench at the SG and it would signal the end of Ray Allen in Boston...

I dislike Fab MElo with every fiber in my body. I think he is not going to add anything to this team

LET'S GO DANNY!

And Moultrie, Perry Jones and/or Sullinger, please fall through. They're very likely gonna be Roy Hibbert caliber players, likely more.

If they stand pat and actually use both picks, then I'd love an offensive minded wing that can come off the bench and provide a scoring spark plus a rotation big man who can grab boards and play adequate defense.

Not sure which actual players that translates to, though.  There's a lot of guys projected in our pick range that I don't like.

For the scoring wing, he may be small, but I really like Doron Lamb.  A guy who can fill it up from outside and also has a great handle.  The rotation big could be Sullinger if he falls, or more likely, Andrew NIcholson.  A very polished power forward with a great inside-outside game.  Don't know how strong of a rebounder he is though.  My guess is he is pretty similar to 3J, just not as athletic.

not sure lamb is worth a first round early 20s pick...i think danny feels it could be easier to get a shooter in FA to come in than a legit big man...i mean he could go big big with 21 and 22...miller is an interesting player...

Woj is reporting that Dion Waiters might move into the top 5, with Cleveland drawing interest if they can't get Bradley Beal.

think a big impact of the picks might be what they have in J. Johnson. I am not sure he is a legit NBA talent and rotation player...but he did miss training camp, summer league and other stuff due to the lockout

If boston feels that he can play up front, then that might impact who they take with their pick. i think we all are certain they take a post big with one but if they feel Johnson is going to be a player for them, they might look for a SF/SG type guy

I hope somehow we get an athletic SG/SF out of this draft that can score off the bench

Ah yes. Last year I suggested trading Avery Bradley for Andrew Goudeluck because that would be good luck.

We also got into a long conversation on the wisdom of drafting players with very modest statistics in the Congo league.

There were also twins born 7 minutes apart that were picked 7 minutes apart

My predictions are Andrew Nicholson and Quincy Miller.  I'd love Harkless and Sullinger, but think both are gone, as will be PJIII.

I'm ready. Let's hope we get the kids that would bring us closer to 18.

I'll be needing help from you guys as well if it's alright. I'll be covering the Draft thru Facebook for my friends in the Philippines who are not going to be able to see it on TV. I might steal a couple insights from you guys.  ;D

Give us FAB MELO!
