It can't be a bad thing that he's a Celtics fan...

If KG decides to retire I say we trade PP for draft picks and tank for a year next season for a chance to grab this kid. He supposedly has superstar potential and he looks like he could be a great defender .

Just sign guys on 1 year contracts next year and develop the rookies , then in the summer of 2013 we will have a bunch of cap space to sign a UFA in a good FA class. Plus hopefully land a lottery pick to grab this kid !

With the Celtics luck in the lottery I don't think I'd want to risk that... Noel is probably gonna be the #1 pick in the 2013 draft. Too much potential and talent. The C's tried this to land Durant and it failed miserably. The Bobcats won 7 games this year and couldn't even grab #1... It's too hard to measure, I'd rather enjoy a season than tank tbh

Yeah, it's simply not worth just for the chance to grab this kid.  Now, if you told me we would absolutely have him if we suffered for a year, then I'd probably do it.  He is a project on offense but a difference maker on defense.

I'm going to wait until a season where we don't go to the conference finals before talking about rock bottom...

If KG retires we aren't winning anything anyways. Whats the point of being a mediocre playoff team for a year , or worse multiple years if we sign dumb free agents like Detroit did ......

I like that he blocks shots in play instead of launching them into the stands.

You are right about this.  Basically, our entire plan next year hinges on KG.  If he comes back, it will only be to a team that is trying to contend.  If KG doesn't come back, then yeah, let's just blow it up now.

It will be either him or shabazz Muhammed for #1 depending on how well they do in college.
Celtics fan in Houston.

if he loves the Celtics that much, we probably don't even need to grab him in the draft and waste a year. He'll probably come to us when hes a FA...but thats a long shot and he's still a kid. Who knows once he makes big money, that might change

Can I just go on record with this?

     Kevin Garnett is healthy,
+   still one of the 20 best players in the league,
+   only 36, and
+   no one ever retired for whom the previous 3 things are true.
+   Also, Doc Rivers is signed for four years, and
+   all of his teammates who matter (except possibly Allen) will be back next year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=   Kevin Garnett will not retire.

Yeah how big of a disappointment was not being able to land Durant? Instead, we had to trade for KG and Ray and win a stupid championship.

Playing the draft lottery never works..

(sarcasm now off)

We could just sign him if we have the money in *gulp* 2018... :-\

I'm sure we'd be on the top of his list if he decided to enter free agency and not resign with his team...

Maybe this is where we look to move Rajon Rondo?
