Losing this game would be a massive blow for Holland.

Huge second half coming up.

The first goal was beautiful for Germany. Lovely touch and silhouette for the finish by Gomez. The defense was very poor for Holland though. Lost track of the striker and gifted him way too much space + the right back didn't hold his line and let him on-side.

Incredible strike by Gomez for the second one. Dodgy goalkeeping though. He went down far too early and took himself out of position to save the shot. It was a great strike right in the corner but at that angle, I'd expect the keeper to do a lot better.

Oh my, Van Persie with a sumptuous finish.

That should set up an intense final 20 minutes.

Very disappointed right now but it's not over yet. Deutschland, wir werden Euch massakrieren! :)

Bummer!  Fought so hard to get back in it, then just started playing scared to preserve the tie.

I don't know what your quote means, but yes, it would be great if we could "massacre" the Germans.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

You simply can`t play with RVP as lone striker.... They guy is more than excellent footballer no doubt. But he is the player to stay in the box and fight with the c.defs... He always gows to side to find space and the penalty area is empty.

This works for arsenal but EPL and euro aren`t the same .....

Send RVP to replace Afellay (i can`t see anything good to this guy ...) and let Huntelar play on top. He scored 29 goals last season !!!!

Very disappointed with the Netherlands.
They have a great group of players but not a great team. I wonder if they have chemistry issues in their locker room like in the past.
The way Robben reacted after been subbed yesterday is simply unexceptable.

Huge game for our national team today vs Italy. I am really pumped up, hopefully we can get a win and clinch a 1/4 finals place today.

Let's do it!! :)

I can't believe that baloteli and cassano are italy's starting strikers.... i just can't! Cassano is an ex footballer and baloteli is making me sick. He shouldn't be allowed to call himself footballer with such mentality.

Very disappointed with Italy's 2nd half effort so far.

Credit to Croatia for continuing to attack though.

Embarrasing celebration from Croatia's fans, forcing a stoppage in play.

Yuck!  Another draw for Italy, this puts the pressure on them to hammer Ireland in the next game.  Really need to hope Ireland can upset Spain or Crotia falls to Spain.

It will be tough for Italy to go through to the next round, but is still possible.

Ah, [dang] that David Silva. Two really bad goals to concede.

Very disappointing job on both goals conceded by Ireland.

It sounds like the lightning strikes are the issue.
