I really doubt Obama even was involved in a decision that small. The White House (like with every president) has a large staff of people who deal with things like this. This is something that would have been done by whoever was in charge of organizing and promoting the clinic. I highly doubt Obama went to them and said "hey, how about putting my face on the ball?"
I know a lot of people have their own ideas of what the president spends his time doing, but as with the CEO of any large organization, small details like that would be delegated not even by him, but by 2 levels below him.

He is certainly not the first president to be full of himself and certainly not the first president to use the time when he is supposed to be commanding our country for silly, self-centered public tasks such as basketball clinics, ncaa brackets and especially campaigning for another term - when there are actually critically important things to be done and handled. You are only president for (hopefully) 4 or 8 (Eeeee) years. Put down the sports page and pick up the Constitution! You have plenty of time for that stuff later. I just think that whether he is making these decisions or not, it just looks bad...and his policies stink too.  Just my 2 cents on our "leader" - don't take it personally |

Based on what, exactly? Knowing a few anecdotes about Obama that you find to be narcissistic is hardly grounds for holding him up against every president in the history of the nation and saying 'you're more self-involved than those guys were'. Rumor has it that Teddy Roosevelt would make an animal learn to say his name (in perfect English) before he killed it. Just so he knew that they knew what to say when they were asked who bested them in hand-to-hand combat. |
