His career was largely ended by injuries, and then how he tried to recover from those injuries by gaining too much muscle too fast (at least IMO).

Same thing could have happened if he went to college, but then he would have never gotten paid.

He should have no regrets about skipping college.  He made some questionable decisions after that one...but that decision gave him the chance to be set financially for life.

In addition to his $5million after taxes and agent fees he also made maybe a small amount in the NBDL and he is currently playing in Japan (according to wiki).  When he finishes his career if he saved his money he could buy a modest house with no mortgage and then could pay his way through college. 

If he had gone to college he might have gotten hurt or exposed and slipped to the 2nd round or out of the draft entirely.
