Looks like the cast is complete.  Not sure about making Anderson a woman, but I'm sure it will work.  I can't wait for this movie.  Comes out March 15, 2013.  Love the books.  I've read them all, including the Bean line.

Thanks for the link ... gonna post it in "Coming Attractions" ... one of my favorite books of all time, and I posted there about the movie being made not long ago. I can not wait for this!

The girl at the airport Barnes and Noble bookstore recommended a couple of books from that series to me.  I read them on vacation last summer.  They were decent.  My vision of most of the action was very dark though.  Might be a bit of a dreary movie.

I suppose it would lean a bit to the dark side, as semi-hard sci-fi goes, but the last thing I would expect this movie to be is dreary ... superbly written book by Orson Scott Card, (and the best of the series), and depending on the adaptation, screenplay, and directing, it should make for one heckuva film. But to each his own.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the story, I just thought a large part of Ender's character was his isolation (and that could lean towards the dreary side).

I still havent read Ender's game believe it or not. Skipped it in high school and now it sits upon my shelf collecting dust despite its great reviews from friends. Time to start reading.

A little disappointing that the kids are so old, although I guess I understand why it has to be this way.

The confrontation between Ender and Bonzo is exponentially less filmable the younger the cast is.

Also, Harry Potter's movie franchise showed the world, kids can't act all that great, and the more you get in one scene, the worse it will be.

I think you have to age them, you can't have them in space for years in the movie, but what them to be at an age where the ending and what not make sense (i.e. not 6-8).

At least Bean is a couple of years younger than most of the other kids.  Hopefully he is equally as small.  Bean is by far my favorite character in Battle School and I absolutely loved his individual story that was told in sequels.  Great read.

I know, I'm just throwing a purist tantrum.

Same. I don't know if this is a minority position, but 'Game and 'Shadow are the only two books in the series that I enjoyed. The others are almost completely unreadable for me.
