Truthfully, I thought he was deserving of all star status this year.

If he had a good point guard feeding him the ball, his stats would balloon up and up. Rondo + Smith = Success.

josh smith is averaging 17ppg 10rpg...a big man who is good around the hoop is Rondo's best friend.

i would think the guy would be a 20/10 guy with Rondo

although, with Smith playing as good as he has, and with Horford out(and joe johnson), I doubt they deal him this year...this is bigger news for the offseason/next year when they are under the realization that they wont have him after that year and they will look to move him..

thats when the celtics can move in and take him..maybe give a trade exception, some young prospects, picks.

but, I think if you are building around rondo Josh Smith is the perfect ssort of player for the celtics..he plays defense, is athletic and can finish around the rim. he would excel here.

look at this video of him/rondo from highschool

Ray for Josh? Naw I'll pass on that. Rather see the Big 3 play out the regular season, then rebuild next season.

Right, because watching the Big 3 age for another 3 months is worth more than getting an All-Star caliber, super-athletic big man for the next 2-3 years (at least).

Problem with trading for Smith is that unless you expect to contend this or next year with him (depends what we give up), we'll have to resign him if we want to build with him.  Based on his attitude it wouldn't surprise me if he asked for something close to the max, which probably wouldn't be too appealing to Danny.

It wouldn't be a terrible problem to have, but it's something to consider.

well, we'd have at least one more year with him, anyway, and I think Josh would likely want (and deserve) a contract similar to what Marc Gasol, Nene, and Chandler got this past off-season.

Give up both of the first round draft picks, Bass, and JO's festering, expiring corpse for Josh Smith and make a run at a title this year.

Use KG and Smith together, hoping that Smith can defend the rim and get some defensive boards (Bass and KG together is a rebounding combo that's going to lead the Cs to a first round sweep exit in the playoffs.)

Those draft picks don't figure to help the Celtics for at least a couple of years, if ever.  There's very few players in this draft that can impact the Cs the next three years more than Smith, who when he's not Toine-ing up three pointers, is a very effective player.

If this team gets eliminated in the playoffs, the Cs are just one move away from signing Howard as a FA this summer, by amnestying Pierce or S and T-ing him (or just shoehorning in Howard under the cap).

Wouldn't it be epic if the stars aligned?

Josh Smith asks for trade, Celtics get him. Dwight Howard doesn't get traded, he is friends with Howard and Rondo is one of the best distributing PGs in the league, Howard signs here.

[dang], that is an awesome pipe dream.

rondo and oneil work for smith and pachulia

bradley / drooling
allen / moore
pierce / pietrus
smith / bass / jjj
garnett / pachulia

I think its a good deal - atlanta ends up with the best player in the trade

Why is it a good deal when the other team gets the best player?
