A lot of people may laugh at this, but in about a year or two, it will be obvious: If danny could trade brandon bass and a 2nd round pick to denver for chris andersen and kenneth faried... kenneth faried is going to be a superstar. if danny could get him... oh my goodness... he should have been a top 5 draft pick... what do you reckon?
If you really felt that Faried is a superstar, you would have proposed a 1st round pick, not a 2nd.
i would offer a 2nd because thats probably his perceived value, rather than real value. remember last season danny did get close to closing a deal that was a james harden for perkins swap. in retrospect does that seem fair? no, but at them time it was perceived to be close to fair by okc. learn how to negotiate.
That is definitely NOT his perceived value.
Think about it:
-In college he was a 17.3/14.5/2.3 block guy, but was docked because he went to a small schoool.
-He was considered shrot (6'
but has a full 7'0 wingspan, increasing his defensive potential.
-Entering the draft, he was considered a sleeper because it was unknown if his stats would translate; if they did, he'd be a steal.
-He was then drafted in the first round at 22nd overall.
-Now in his rookie season, he started on the bench and has since earned playing time for a >.500 playoff team in the more competitive west, and has really excelled in his time, with very good points per minute, great rebounds per minute, very good blocks per minute, and efficient scoring.
So we have a very productive college player potential steal draft pick taken at #22 overall and very quickly out-producing his (first round) draft position...His perceived value is Definitely a lottery pick, not an average first round pick and definitely not a second rounder.
