Pretty sure JJ is only meant to be out a week or so with this injury.

I'll keep Rondo/Jeff Green/decent 1st rounder over Rondo/Smith.

JSmith isn't enough of an upgrade over JGreen to punt a mid-1st in a solid draft.

If Atlanta were to do a mid-season trade for Ray Allen, they would not give up a key rotation player.  The logical Boston-Atlanta trade involving Ray Allen is probably Ray for Kirk Heinrich and a second round pick.

...  which you would think about doing if you could turn around and trade Rondo for a good, youngish big man.

yes yes yes I absolutely do this.

Jsmoove has been playing out of his skull. Also Rondo and Jsmoove lure Dwight here.

then you resign Ray this offseason to a 3 years deal at short money

Gotta get a first rounder in this deal; otherwise there is no point. I see the reasoning behind it though if we can't get our act together. Hinrich has been completely useless in Atlanta so no way settle for a second rounder. That's not worth Ray's Bird rights in a potential S+T after the season.

They have no leverage there. But I could see it. Have Hinrich back up Rondo and move Pietrus to the starting lineup.

I am not sure how this would make sense for Atlanta.  Replacing Smith with Ray just fills one hole and creates another possibly bigger one.

I don't know about that. Two guys in Rondo and Josh Smith who can't shoot to team up with another guy who can't shoot in Dwight Howard. Our defense would be fantastic but the offense would really struggle.

boston 1st round pick (not the clippers one)

I think common wisdom has been that the Clippers pick will be more valuable than our own.   That is looking less likely every day.
