Kevin Garnett will be associated with both teams but more with Minny than Boston. Similar to Oscar Robertson.

Ray Allen, I don't think he'll be associated with any one team. Spent 5 years in three different places. One of those guys who'll be remembered for his play but not for which team he was on.

Is Bill Walton thought of a Celtic?
I think of him as a UCLA Bruin

I think it has to do with what you were photographed the most as.  Drexler to me was photographed the most as a Blazer that year he went against MJ and made the dream team.

There are some guys I think as college guys.

I think about this a lot.

I'd like to think this is some profound, existential crisis for you.  ;D

Both C's no question. This is where they won their championships and this is where they will likely end their careers.

It's like asking if Dennis Johnson will be remembered as a Celtic.

No it isn't.  DJ spent 7 years in Boston.  He only spent 4 in Seattle and 3 in Phoenix.  No where near the same thing.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

This is why I think Garnett (and Ray) will nationally be remembered at Celts

Yes KG played slightly more than twice as many seasons in Minn as he did here, but....

first people will remember him as a very good player and so people will remember him playing hard against Kobe and Lebron, not getting his wazoo kicked by Duncan....unless you live in San Antonio

second....He played 29 playoff games in Minn from 96 to 03. He played 26 for the Celts in 08 alone.  The final tally is 47 playoff games in Minn to 58 and counting for Boston, not to mention all the shots of him in a suit on the bench.

He had more nationally televised games and more magazine covers as a Celtic than as a Wolf and when they were televised more people watched.

People saw him in a Celts jersey more and more recently.

Maybe if he is traded he will be seen more as a wolf but if he finishes things out here it will be as a Celt

It's like if Pau Gasol goes down last year for some reason. Laker or Grizz? He played 7 years with the Griz and 4 with the Lakers.  He was totally a Laker for life at that point and possibly after year three.

In two years Bosh will be a Heatle

Here's one for you.....Jason Kidd.

Quick...Richard Jefferson!

Jason Richardson!....with that one sometimes I revert to Michigan State

I might be in the minority but I see Chauncy Billups as a Nugget

Here's a hint.  Go to google image search, type in Kevin Garnett, and see what pops up.

I think KG and Ray will always be remembered as the two guys who joined Pierce in Boston to form the new big three and win their first titles together.  In that sense they'll be remembered as guys who joined the C's at the end of their careers; and not necessarily as long time Celtics players.

BTW regarding Ray, he will be remembered more for his time in SEA than in MIL in my opinion.  All his high scoring statistical years are with the Sonics, and all his crazy 4th quarter heroics and game winning shots were with SEA. I know he has hit plenty of GW's for BOS too, but I'm just comparing his stints in MIL and SEA.

With this past post-season and off-season I think the perception of KG and Ray may change.   If KG finishes out his new contract, he will have played 8 years in Boston vs. the 12 in Minnesota.  Given the much greater success he has already had in Boston, I think that he might be known more as a Celtic 25 years from now around the country than as a Timberwolf.

Allen on the other hand, by going to Miami, especially if he finishes all 3 years there, has clouded his legacy a great deal.  He might be one of the few players in history that is thought of like a vagabond i.e. a great player, but one who could never find a home.

Similar to Barkely in that manner perhaps? Barkley is one of the greats who I kinda see as teamless because he was split between two teams with a third mixed in.
