this is in response to hobbs' announcement thread about the current events forum being temporarily closed:

i was wondering when it might come back?  i think if it were getting out of hand, its an easy fix.....the staff tighten things up in the forums and discipline when needed, like roy eluded to in the announcement. if that is the game plan moving forward, when can we expect it back.  while i dont always participate in those threads, i do read them, which is why i was curious.

There is a debate going on right now with the staff on the "how".  When that is decided, we will get back to the "when".

It's not as easy a fix as it sounds. ;)  But, we're working on it.

this is a bummer.  it's a shame if it was closed due to any lack of civility amongst the posters.  I learned a lot in those forums, didn't necessarily agree with it, but it was informative.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
I like the current events stuff, but I don't mind the temporary shuttering.  It's not like it's going to get less heated as we get closer to the election.

I wouldn't mind seeing it reopened for actual, non-political current events, though (they do come up there from time to time).

Probably good to give everybody who was posting in there regularly time to cool off, in any case.
