low risk move to improve this season...
to phx: wilcox, 2nd round pick
to bos: lopez

phoenix has both gortat and frye tied up in long term contracts, they may not be willing to spend any more money for a 3rd center when lopez reaches FA this summer.
they get a tru pf in wilcox (a position they are short at) try him out for the rest of the season and if it doesn't work out jettison him.
thy get a pick for lopez that is roughly equal to the position they took him at originally.

we get a athletic young center to back up JO.
we risk nothing financially /cap space wise.
Lopez has a defensive fire in the belly that could really ignite playing in our system.
heck of a reserve center upgrade for us.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Spencer Hawes is the only unrestricted free agent I'd pursue this offseason - everyone else worth adding will be a restricted FA.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

The best fit for this team was Tyson Chandler and we missed him by one year. He would have been a great consolation prize to Howard if he had been free this coming summer. If the Knicks want to move salary to try to finagle in Howard I would glady take Chandler off their hands.
