On draft day,

BOS sends: 2012 first rounder, trade exception

ATL sends: Josh Smith

I have two questions about this trade. First off, is it possible? Does our cap space take effect right when the season ends, or when free agency begins? Second off, do you think it's realistic? I can see ATL doing it if someone slips in the draft (Henson, Terrence Jones, Rivers) and they want him.

It's when free agency begins. Unfortunately, not possible.

Its not possible, because the C's don't have a trade exception.

I also don't think its plausible.  I don't think Smith would be traded for that little.  He is a very good player, and would take multiple premium assets to get.
